About this ebook

Lee Todman's exposé is an important book and good news for Christians and other interested parties who believe in or are afraid of Lucifer the Morning Star, the so-called Devil.
Throughout his life, Todman had heard the name Lucifer (the Devil) and why humanity should be aware and afraid of this character. As a child he was brought up believing Lucifer was a fallen angel who rebelled against God and was the personification of evil in its purest form. However, it was a concept that did not bear weight with him and years later, while studying at university, he took a deeper look into the book of Isaiah, specifically chapter 14:12.
He was amazed to discover Lucifer as a character does not exist anywhere in Scripture and has been falsely passed down through the generations via ignorance or deceit.
After much controversy and interaction with Christians, former Christians, atheists and other cult members, he wrote Lucifer the Morning Star to put to rest this false narrative once and for all. This book provides the evidence and facts that one single mistranslated word has caused more harm than good, especially in Western culture. It has given rise to false ideologies such as Satanism and Luciferianism that are nothing more than synthetic ideologies that prey on the weak-minded. When they learn there is no Lucifer, the bringer or bearer of light, their entire ideology collapses from within.

“Lucifer” The Morning Star Does Not Exist In Scripture At All - Lee A. Todman

    Foreword by the Author

For all Christians doubting their faith, and others that may have left the faith over a simple controversy which tends to claim that the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and Lucifer are both ‘the morning star’, doubt no more.

I felt the need to write this book as honestly and accurately as possible to counter this controversy and prove it to be a false narrative. The book serves to remove the doubts current Christians may be experiencing and to bring back those who may have left the Christian faith over this fake narrative.

During debates in the past with ex-Christians, I was often confronted with the phrase, ‘You Christians can’t have it both ways.’ In other words: Christians cannot have Lucifer as the morning star and Jesus Christ as well, which on the surface, appears to be a good argument. Then, through the Holy Spirit, I realised that the phrase was being used by people who had performed no research and heard the controversy by third parties, who in turn had performed no research whatsoever. It was an ‘I heard it from this person, who had heard it from that person’-type scenario. The churches have failed to provide an adequate answer to this controversy, making them partly responsible. As a scholar and fellow Christian, this was the driving force for my investigation into this matter.

This particular controversy has led to many secret sects and the occult over the centuries, who bring with them dangerous ideologies destined for failure. These ideologies are nothing but a means to a miserable end.

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

    Carl Sagan

    Occam’s razor

    A plea to all Christians:

Follow the truth, not dark fairy tales.

    Acknowledgements

To the very few brave souls out there that have stood up and spoken out against this great Isaiah 14:12 lie, whether that be posting comments on the internet or some short videos, I commend you for your efforts, even though I disagreed with some of your views.

If you read this book, I believe you will know who you are.

I will not name anybody who posted comments that helped me to compile this book, as I do expect some backlash from the people who continue to propagate this false narrative, even from the churches.

They are welcome to debate me on this subject any time and I am confident that they will lose, but I have decided to take on that responsibility myself and not draw anybody into it for the sake of unnecessary persecution or attacks from the so-called Luciferians or Satanists.

Also, a special thank you to Reach Publishers for all of their professional work throughout the process and for bringing this book to the shelves for the public to read.

The one who states his case first seems right until the other comes and examines him. (Proverbs 18:17, ESV)

Whoever makes the claim carries the burden of proof.

    Chapter 1

    What do Christians believe?

If you ask any Christian today who Satan is, you will most definitely receive the same confident rhetoric: ‘Lucifer is a fallen angel,’ or ‘Lucifer is the Devil, the ruler of Hell.’

Pop culture leads us to believe that Lucifer (the Devil) is the ‘morning star’, as we see in television series, movies and even in the music industry. So, where did this originate? There is no verse in the entire Holy Bible that describes who or what Satan is, in any shape, size or form.

We are not told whether Satan is an angel or not, and to the exclusion of everything else, we can only make an inference.

Additionally, there is no book or verse in the entire Holy Bible that suggests Satan is in Hell or Hades and the ruler thereof. It simply does not exist. Satan will eventually be locked up in the abyss ¹for a thousand years and then finally ²cast into the lake of fire. However, these are future events written and documented in the apocalyptic book of Revelation.

In Genesis 3, it is written that Satan appears as a ³serpent in the Garden of Eden and tempts Eve to eat from the forbidden tree, which leads Adam to follow suit and do the same, thus causing them to rebel against God. This is what Christians refer to as ‘the fall of man’.

This strange account, written in Genesis 3, tells us that this particular serpent has the ability to communicate with humans. ⁴Any informed Bible reader knows that God can enter His own creation and various heavenly creatures have the ability to change their form or ‘shapeshift’.

⁵And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

⁶And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.

In the Book of Job, chapters 1 verse 8 and 2 verse 3, he is known as the ‘Satan’, the ‘Adversary’, ‘Accuser’ or ‘opponent’.

⁷And LORD JEHOVAH said to Satan: ‘Behold, you have set your heart on my Servant Job, for there is none like him in the Earth, a man perfect and upright, and he worships God and departs from evil, and until now holds firmly to his perfection, and you provoke me against him that I would destroy him for nothing!’ (Job 2:3 Peshitta Holy Bible Translated)

Many deranged liberal scholars and people who take an interest in this account from the Book of Job argue that Satan is merely an agent of God whose job it is to seek out evildoers on Earth and prosecute them. This is a ‘fake narrative’ put out there by paid anti-Christian activists and uninformed parrots to sow confusion in the Christian faith. If you read the text carefully and in its context, you will discover that this is clearly not the situation at all.

In no case study throughout history that I am aware of does a prosecutor cause or drive a person to commit a crime and then proceed to prosecute that person as an offender. This is not how God’s order of things works and if you investigate the passage carefully and honestly, you will conclude that Satan was blatantly testing and challenging God in the presence of the hosts (angels) of Heaven and failed miserably.

It also appears that Satan is not an angel at all but is permitted to join the sons of God in Heaven when God calls for it. He appears to be singled out and the impression you receive from the text is that he was not even asked to show up.

⁸Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. And the Lord said to Satan, ‘From where do you come?’ So Satan answered the Lord and said, ‘From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.’

⁹The word ‘Satan’ in the Hebrew text has the ה hiphil stem article prefixed to it השׂטן (haś·śā·ṭān) here and elsewhere in the Book of Job, also found in Zechariah 3:1, 2. When accompanied, it is less a proper name than an appellative - ‘the adversary’.

    השׂטן - (haś·śā·ṭān) - Article | noun - masculine singular

Strong’s 7854: An opponent - Satan, the arch-enemy of good

¹⁰Whereas in 1 Chronicles 21:1 the actual name Satan is used without the article prefix - שׂטן (śā·ṭān).

    שׂטן - (śā·ṭān) - noun - masculine singular

Strong’s 7854: An opponent -- Satan, the arch-enemy of good

This is not of any consequential importance as the two are most likely used interchangeably and it bears little to no significance to how Satan was viewed in the Old Testament.

The idea that Hell or Hades is Satan’s (or Lucifer’s) residency and that he is the king or ruler of thereof is not even a myth. It is no more than a dark fairy tale which, in all likelihood, originated during the Middle Ages, as with so many other superstitions and folklore. Throughout the Holy Bible, Satan is allowed to move around freely on Earth and in Heaven. However, wherever he goes and intervenes, evil, conflict and destruction always follow. His miserably failure to tempt the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, throughout His ministry and suffering on Earth, is a prime example of this.

¹¹Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (Matthew 4:1, NKJV)

¹²‘Away from Me, Satan!’ Jesus declared. ‘For it is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.(Matthew 4:10, BSB)

¹³The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. (Matthew 16:1, NIV)

¹⁴And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, ‘You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.’ Likewise, the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, ‘He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, I am the Son of God.(Matthew 27:39-43, NKJV)

As God works through people, it is the same with Satan, the disparity being they are polar opposites. Generally, when people follow the laws of God, they prosper. Yet, when Satan interferes, destruction and chaos follows. ¹⁵Any nation throughout human history that becomes decadent and abandons God collapses. From empires to almost nothing.

    Chapter 2

    T

    he Isaiah 14 Controversy

This entire Lucifer enigma stems from a single verse in the Old Testament book of Isaiah, chapter 14 verse 12, and a single word mistakenly used in noun - masculine singular form:

    הילל (hê·lêl)

And to add to the problem, according to all Bible commentaries who agree with this, it only occurs once in the entire Holy Bible, known as an ‘hapax legomenon’. Again, this is clearly not the case at all.

¹⁶When investigating the etymology of this word, we find only two root words:

To ‘shine’ or rather ‘praise’ from the verb הלל (halal), or

To ‘howl’ or ‘wail’ from the verb ילל (yalal).

Some scholars claim that it is not clear whether the word helel should actually be considered a real name. I will argue that it should never be considered to be a real name. It allegedly only occurs once in the Bible ¹⁷(Strong’s Hebrew 1966), from the rather famous taunt or lamentation of the prophet Isaiah, towards the king of Babylon.

How you have fallen from heaven, helel, son of the dawn! (Isaiah 14:12).

Many scholars and, worse than that, preachers and pastors in churches postulate that Isaiah was actually addressing Satan, the ‘power’ behind or surrounding the king of Babylon, but sorry to disappoint – he was not; he was addressing the king of Babylon and him alone.

It appears that the transcribers who translated and composed the ²⁰Greek Septuagint (LXX) magically assumed the Hebrew word הילל hê·lêl to be a literal deity and that deity was personified as the morning star, Venus. They coined the descriptive expression εωσφορος (Eosphoros) in the text.

    Greek Septuagint – Isaiah 14:12 - helel:

εωσφόρος – morning star – Venus

Eosphoros – morning star – Venus

This is not a translation or transliteration; it is nothing more than a word substitution based on an assumption or to some degree, a blatant fraud. The so-called ‘Seventy’ transcribers (Septuagint - LXX) who translated this verse somehow got lost in their imaginations and found a way to interpolate a Greek deity into the Holy Bible and were successful in doing so. However, this word substitution may suggest Greek influence on the translators.
