The Pornography Problem - Marvin McKenzie

    Introduction

In the age of information and technology, our world has become interconnected in ways we could hardly have imagined. While this connectivity brings extraordinary benefits, it also brings to light a pervasive issue that has gripped society, stealthily infiltrating our homes and hearts - the issue of pornography.

Today, it’s nearly impossible to avoid the explicit images and content that bombard us through various screens and devices. The ease of access, the temptation of secrecy, and the temporary escape it provides have lured countless individuals into a web of temptation and addiction. The pornography problem is not only real but a widespread concern that has touched the lives of many, including those within churches.

I should acknowledge that the problem with pornography reaches much farther back than the internet. There are at least a half dozen pornography magazines currently published in the United States. Teens notoriously snuck those magazines into their rooms. More than a few people were embarrassed to be caught sneaking peeks of them at the convenience store. The pornography film industry is as old as the film industry.[1] Before internet there were call lines where, for a fee, interested persons could engage in phone sex. It’s not a new problem.

As a Fundamental Baptist pastor for over four decades, I have witnessed firsthand the destructive effect of pornography on marriages, families, and personal lives. I firmly believe that the Bible provides an unwavering perspective on sexual purity, and it is within these sacred teachings that we find the potency and guidance to address this issue.

In this book, The Pornography Problem: God, Marriage, and Spiritual Discipline, we will explore
