    Chapter 1

    Meeting Her in Harsh Weather

The night was cloaked in an impenetrable darkness, making visibility almost nonexistent. Even objects just a few feet away were obscured from view. The relentless rain had brought everything to a standstill.

Despite the dreadful weather and the shroud of darkness, Abhimat cautiously navigated his car along the winding hillside road. Fierce gusts of wind relentlessly battered his windshield, making it increasingly challenging to maintain control of the vehicle.

The situation was worsened by the downpour, which rendered the car's headlights nearly useless, limiting visibility to just a few feet ahead. In the distance, some faint lights flickered, but in these conditions, speeding up was out of the question.

Abhimat tightly gripped the steering wheel, proceeding cautiously. Frustration gnawed at him; he was already running late and needed to reach his destination urgently, but the weather had thrown a wrench into his plans.

The car pulled up at the entrance of Hotel Peace Palace. It was late, and the hotel was mostly dark, with only a few lights on. Abhimat wasted no time, getting out of the car and being immediately hit by a blast of icy wind. He wrapped his overcoat tightly around himself, like a turtle retracting into its shell, and hurried into the lobby. Finding no one at the front desk, he paused by a large window.

Outside, raindrops clung to the windowpane as he stood there. The chill was seeping through his thick overcoat, making him shiver. Startled, he turned and approached the front desk, tapping his fingers on the counter. Is anyone here?

Suddenly, a young woman emerged from behind the counter. Abhimat was taken aback by her appearance. It was as if a magician had conjured an angel before his eyes.

She had very beautiful, silky straight hair, almond-shaped eyes with well-arched eyebrows, long black eyelashes, and a delicate line of kohl highlighting her eyes. A small triangle of kohl adorned her forehead, her cheeks had a rosy glow, and her lips were enticingly plump. A charming mole sat at the edge of her lower lip, and a faint dimple graced her chin. Abhimat was captivated by her graceful neck and the subtle allure of her chest. He lost himself in her beauty, oblivious to his surroundings.

The receptionist felt a bit awkward, having been caught by Abhimat in this state. She had been bending down to retrieve a file under the counter.

What can I assist you with? Her voice seemed like a chorus of silver bells, pulling Abhimat out of his reverie.

He stammered, My name is Abhimat, and I had sent a telegram to reserve a room at your hotel.

I'm sorry, but there are no available rooms at the hotel right now. She gave Abhimat an appraising look from head to toe. "I'm
