    Introduction

Shree Guru Gobind Singh Ji was the tenth Sikh Guru and the last human Guru of the Sikh religion. He was born on December 22, 1666, in Patna, Bihar, India, to Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Guru of the Sikh religion, and Mata Gujri.

As a young child, Guru Gobind Singh was a prodigious student and was well-versed in multiple languages including Persian, Sanskrit, and Hindi. He was also trained in the art of warfare and martial arts, which would later come to play a crucial role in his life and the lives of his followers.

At the age of nine, Guru Gobind Singh became the leader of the Sikh religion following the martyrdom of his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, who was executed by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb for his refusal to convert to Islam. Guru Gobind Singh spent much of his early life fighting against the Mughal Empire and other oppressive forces that sought to extinguish the Sikh faith.

Guru Gobind Singh is best known for the creation of the Khalsa, a military order of Sikhs who were dedicated to upholding the principles of the Sikh religion and defending their people against oppression. He initiated the Khalsa on April 13, 1699, at the Vaisakhi festival in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, India. The Khalsa were given five symbols of identity, including uncut hair, a comb, a steel bracelet, a sword, and a special undergarment, which are still worn by devout Sikhs today.

Throughout his life, Guru Gobind Singh wrote a number of religious texts and hymns, which are compiled in the Dasam Granth, a holy scripture of the Sikh religion. He also established the practice of Akhand Path, the continuous recitation of the Sikh Holy Scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib.

Guru Gobind Singh died on October 7, 1708,
