Incarnation of divinity, a mystic, a saint, the founder of Sikhism, Shri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji was born on 13th of April, 1469, at Rai-Bhai-di, Talwandi (Now in Pakistan). It is situated now in Shekhupar District of Pakistan.

It is believed that his contemplative mind and rational thinking were a gift to him from God. It was quite surprising for his parents and relatives that only at the age of seven he learnt Hindi and Sanskrit languages.

The birth place of Shri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji is now known as Nankana Sahib.

Every year, the Sikhs and followers of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji celebrate His birthday on the full moon day in the month of Kartik (a month in Hindu calendar).

According to some other historical references, it is said that Guru Nanak was born on20th of October, 1469.

Guru Nanak was born in a prosperous family. His father, Mehta Kalyan Das, popularly known as Mehta Kalu, worked for Rai Bular, a rich merchant in town. His father was the agent and Chief Accountant of Rai Bular.
