Meryle and Lancelot's Adventures - Genevieve Leanne Dominguez

    Chapter 1: Morgana’s Story

I’ve known Arthur was my half-brother since I was a girl. My mother told me and my sister, Morgause, a week before she died. It was her wish that we would all meet someday.

My magic surfaced the day my mother died.

I remember Morgause couldn’t stop crying. She was so distraught that she wasn’t paying attention to where she was going. She tripped on a raised tree root and hit her head on a small boulder. My father sprang into action, but I couldn’t move. I was transfixed by her stillness. Then I blacked out.

I was asleep for two weeks. During that time, my breathing was shallow and my heartbeat was faint. My father thought I was going to die. He went to several fairy villages, asking for help. Was there a potion or dust that could wake me? Everyone he spoke to said the same thing: They had never known anyone who had the ability to heal, which meant they didn’t know how to help me.

He couldn’t understand how I had this gift because no one in his or my mother’s family had magic. He was heading home when a fairy stopped him and told him to search for the Lady of the Lake, Vivian.

Well, Vivian was one step ahead. She was tending to me when he reached home to refill his supplies.

Vivian couldn’t explain why I had the ability to heal, but she knew that I couldn’t perform this kind of healing again. Bringing my sister back from the brink of death drained me. I would wake eventually, but she couldn’t predict when.

My father made me and my sister promise that we would never tell anyone about my gift. He was afraid that people would take advantage of me.

Over the years, I honed my skill in secrecy. I learned how to heal wounds, broken bones, burns, and illnesses without having to
