The trip down the corridor of the care facility was one Samuel had grown to know all too well. This was the place Greta had called home for the past six months.

Samuel’s visits with his mom had been pretty good for the first five months. Occasionally, his mom would have spells of not remembering, and they were becoming more frequent and lasting longer. Overall, her health seemed pretty good, and no matter what kind of day she was having, she always managed to smile and have a pleasant conversation with Samuel.

The last month was different. Greta started off doing well until she got sick. When she recovered, she never got back to her previous state. Samuel often found her agitated and difficult for her care team to handle. Her motor skills were rapidly deteriorating, and she needed assistance with her personal care.
