Memoirs of the Apostolic Church - Kimberly R. Rice

    Introduction

When one grows up thinking their upbringing is functional with love and care; only to find out you have been living a dysfunctional and disordered life. To the point that you see nothing is wrong with your basic routine because one has been living a functional lifestyle, so they think. Thinking back on growing up, I saw zero wrong with not having a mother and father living together in one house, but I did question it. This was an ordinary life for me until I went to school, saw and heard other children talking about their parents. My siblings grew up with the structure of having their mom and dad, only to find out they were still living a dysfunctional life too. Everyone’s background situation is shaped differently, so I would like to Congratulate ! you first for purchasing this book.

I would like you to go on this journey with me to discover how not to raise the next generation up to think it’s okay to be dysfunctional, offended, wounded, and persecuted while thinking it is the norm. This reading is going to bring out the best person that you can be. It’s going to challenge you to look back at the structures of your lifestyles at home, work, church etc.… One will see where their parent(s) were untruthful, selfish, and unstable while bringing them up and why today one has struggled with having a normal relationship with others. This book is going to make you open your heart and ask the important question, you will be confronted to learn things about you that were unpleasant. Most of all it will bring clarity to your deliverance so you can know what generational demons that you are fighting. If you don’t have a name for the demon you can’t have it cast out.

The word of God says to rely on the Holy Spirit but it helps to know the name of what you are dealing with in order to cast demons out. Mark 16:17 says, And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues (KJB). My name is Kimberly Renee Rice, I am forty-seven years old with three children and one granddaughter. I have been graced with an Apostolic anointing on my life to deliver, heal and set the next generations of believers free in Jesus’ mighty Name. I come well trained through the Holy Spirit teachings and many deliverance classes I have taken. I am the Chief Executive Officer of the Lighthouse Center Advocating for Adolescence and Children, Inc. and an Independent contractor for Uber. I am a dedicated and a hardworking individual who had struggled in high school and dropped out. In 2007, I began to wrestle inside with not being a role model to my three children. So, I decided to enroll in Midwest Theology Institute and earned my GED and that was the beginning of a whole new world.

Once I earned my GED and registered at South Suburban College earning an Associate Degree in Psychology graduating in 2015. The sky was the limit, there was no stopping me now because I figured if I had come this far in my accomplishments I could go further. In 2016, I junctured with Indiana University Northwest and took the challenges of getting a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, graduating May 9, 2019. Over the years in my career, I worked at Washington Jane Smith and Bethel Terrance Apartments for senior citizens. My love for working with the elderly grew into facilitating meetings, working with the Alzheimer patients, and doing day-to-day basic duties to make sure the job was accomplished. Moving on to my next assignment, I began to work with children and that was where my passion was stirred up; I knew that I would work with children in the future. I applied for a position at Aunt Martha’s Youth Services Inc. and was hired as a family educator. I opened my first home teaching girls from the age of 10-18 years, who dealt with behavioral difficulties and I taught them basic life skills. I assisted with doctor’s visits, going to court, and facilitating weekly meetings with the children and their parent(s).

As the company grew, my love for the underprivileged grew into a mentorship. While at Aunt Martha’s, I was certified in the areas of Family Teaching Model, Reality Therapy, and Cultural Awareness, Crisis Intervention, CPR, HIV Training, Restraint Training, Foster Care, and Stress Management. I wanted to grow in the childcare field even more, so I took several jobs working at Hoover-Schrum Memorial Middle School and Geminus Head Start as a teacher assistant and was promoted to a K-3rd grade teacher.

Next, I became a Child Care Provider assisting in the care of twin babies for a family privately, while working as a Parent Advocate for the Gear Up Program in the Chicago Public School. There I worked with seventh through twelfth grade students. I also assisted with college tours, ensured college readiness with the parent(s) and child, prepared and facilitated workshops, offered credit repair and FAFSA readiness for college. Currently, I am working as an Independent Contractor for Uber and this is where I gained the knowledge to start my own business. Uber is a great place to work that gives me the freedom and opportunity to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout my vehicle.

While driving, business men and women began to pull on me to see what my future goals were. I knew it was time to open my own business because in my garage was a plan for a group home that sat there for several years. Through life’s journey everything that I have accomplished has been worth the wait. I know that I am well able to help you in the process of becoming whole. I am number eight of five girls and two boys in which we were born to Lela Mae Davis-Rice and Henry Rice. Henry impregnated my mother with six children and later in life Pearl Keenen impregnated her with me and my brother who is since deceased. Growing up with my siblings has brought a negative influence, with them making sure that I was inadequate in fulfilling my purpose due to them being older.

The information that is provided in this book are true statements I wrote to help people get healed, not to hurt them. Memoirs of an Apostolic Church are for healing purposes—why? I became healed by facing the hurts of my past and allowing God to open the filthy wounds in my heart that had bondage, rejection, and bitterness attached to it. I know that this book is going to help you so don’t just purchase it and set it down. Make sure you ask God to prepare your heart and ask God to help you identify the areas you need deliverance in.

This is going to be an interactive book; I will be asking questions about your feelings or what experience you are having. Please write down and journal your feelings and at the end of every chapter there will always be a short prayer. The purpose of this book is to soul search the dysfunctional areas that we hide pretending that we have it all together. One can dress up the outer exterior with expensive clothes, high end makeup, career jobs, hiding behind the cloak of ministry, and being intelligent with lots of degrees. Only to come to a point if someone pushes the right button your rotten guts will spit all in one’s face. So, I encourage you once again to get excited and join this revolution to heal your mind, body, and soul.

    PART I:

    Functional Versus Dysfunction

Looking back on life, I truly knew that God had his hand on me and it’s a blessing that through it all he kept me. Memoirs of an Apostolic Church came about years ago, lying in bed the Holy Spirit said you are going to write a book, and this will be the name of the book. I grew up in church; when I departed, Jesus’ hands and love was always there. See right here is when Jesus was saying you will write a book. Jesus was giving me snippets of the promises that he has for me. Only Jesus knew that I would endure the process of life in order to bring my promised life to pass. So, I encourage you to go on this joy ride and let’s take a dysfunctional lifestyle and bring it back to a functioning life in the Lord. Born into a complicated family with so many differences, I never knew nothing about my dysfunctional tendency.

I felt like I was blessed, and my world was no different than any other child growing up. Born to Pearl Keenen and Lela Mae Rice both in church loving God but married to two other individuals. They were in love, backsliders who fell into a deep passion for each other and that’s how their love affair began. Oh! Was that dysfunctional or not, nobody could tell them anything different. I am sure they knew it wasn’t right, both lacking the true meaning of marriage. They took their vows and threw them in the garbage and were drawn into their own selfish lust. These were two hurt individuals; my mother’s husband had walked away from her for a younger woman and my dad was just a man cheating on his wife. If they had accountable people around them to steer them back to Jesus. I am sure they would have but they were the 1970s party goers who had been in church on lock down. Jesus has given me the revelation of why all this dysfunction has taken place and I will give it to you later in the chapter.

So, therefore we must deal with the root cause of this dirty lust to see why my family thought they were functioning in truth. Through all the hurt, pain, lust, and separation me and my brother Andre were conceived. We know that God doesn’t make any mistakes; he uses what was meant for the bad to be turned around for his good and purpose. "Dysfunction—is impaired or abnormal functioning, abnormal or unhealthy interpersonal behavior or interaction within a group. Family Dysfunction is the root cause of Gastrointestinal disease, such as Diabetes, Acids Reflex, Fibroids Tumors, and Crohn’s disease" (Merriam-Webster). Giving you some of the diseases that are linked to dysfunction has helped me break down my family’s unhealthy patterns. So, this let’s me know why the family is struggling with these sicknesses that are linked to a generational curse undealt with.

Think back on the things that you suffer with or the unhealthy patterns that you are facing in your health and do the research and see where these diseases come from you will see what curses they are linked to. "Dysfunctional families are primarily a result of two adults, one typically overtly abusive and the other codependent, and may also be affected by addictions (such as substance abuse—e.g., drugs, including alcohol), or sometimes by an untreated mental illness. Right here I can see where my mother was a strong woman but very codependent on the support of a man. Dysfunctional parents may emulate or over-correct from their own dysfunctional parents. In some cases, the dominant parent will abuse or neglect their children and the other parent will not object, misleading a child to assume blame" (Wikipedia).

I have heard the stories where my siblings have said that their father was very abusive by beating them and being very strict while they were young. I have seen a lot of parties in my days but there was
