    INTRODUCTION

The Bible tells us the terrible consequence of those who deviate from the gospel and return to the world.

I remember the first church I pastored in 2007, at the end of the service a woman appeared in the church and asked who the pastor was, because she wanted the pastor to say a prayer for her and for the baby she had at home, I identified myself as pastor from the church and I went with her and a sister worker to her house, and we entered the house and she led us to the room where she supposedly had a baby, it was a rolled up towel and a doll's bottle on the towel looked like a child in arms from afar , but the Holy Spirit soon told me it is a demon, and when I prayed for her, a demon was manifested that was soon expelled and the woman was released, later I knew that that woman was a deviation from the gospel, the enemy made her think that a towel wrapped around a doll's bottle was a baby.

For if, after they have escaped the corruptions of the world through the full knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again involved in them and overcome, the latter state is worse for them than the former. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than, knowing it, to turn away from the holy commandment given to them. Thus, came to them what this true proverb says; The dog goes back to its vomit, and the washed sow goes back to wallowing in the mire. 2 Peter 2.20- 22.

    CHAPTER 1

    Marks of a Backslidden Christian

Once, in the service, at the time of the appeal, the preacher said: The word deviated is not in the Holy Bible.

Someone who has strayed from the path considered right is led astray. This term is the past participle of deviate, according to the Porto publishing company dictionary.

In the JFA Offline Bible app, published in Almeida revised and updated (ARA), from 1993, the search shows five results for the word deviated. There are four in the Old Testament: Genesis 9.23, 1 Kings 2.28, Ezekiel 44.10 and Malachi 2.8. And one in the New Testament: Titus 1:14.

    Deviated: outside the normal position, or who deviated from good customs;

Ask: Who is the most important person in your life? Answer: It is you. Imagine if you didn't exist. That's

why we should take good care of our physical and spiritual 9

life. Many are concerned with academic, professional, sentimental life, but forget the spiritual life.

The first couple created by God went astray, ev en though they lived, talking to God himself. Balaam the prophet deviated, Solomon deviated, Saul deviated, Judas, and many members, pastors and workers have already deviated. Anyone who is careless can deviate from the path of salvation, and return to the old life of sins.

Adam lived with God, listened to God, spoke with God, but Satan managed through a woman, or his wife, to remove him from the presence of God. Adam had a good and easy life, tending and plowing the garden. But he didn't take care of the most important person in the garden of Eden! Himself, for even if Eve tempted him to eat the fruit, if he was keeping the words and the fear of God, he would not disobey God, ever. For not guarding, not taking care of himself, he was expelled from paradise, the Garden of Eden.

God expects us to worship him in spirit and in truth. All those who are deviated from the faith show signs. The lack of meditation, prayer, although the person fulfills the ministries within the church, are some of these signs. You may be serving, persevering in the ministries, giving generously in the church, but the love for the Lord is weakened.

A backslidden heart is capable of doing terrible things, bearing in mind that time erases them and that there will be no consequence s.

But God doesn't forget anything we do. He is waiting for repentance. And if repentance does not come, He disciplines. And God's discipline produces sadness, loss, suffering... not because God is bad, but because God wants brokenness. He wants sincere re pentance,

    10

accompanied by a change of attitude, especially regarding the love we should have for Him.

What happens to someone whose heart is wandering? Initially, he begins to lose interest in God's affairs and little by little returns to his old habits, practicing more complex sins than before. Little by little, he loses interest in the Lord. Your heart is no longer as hot as it was a few weeks, months or years ago, and your love for God is growing cold.

This means that you are losing interest in fellowship with the Lord. If you are not doing as well as you used to, I can honestly tell you that you are a backslider at heart. If you loved to pray before, you should do the same today.

However, if it is not like before, what other conclusion can we re ach?

If a doctor orders a complete blood count and finds that the patient's blood cell count is far below normal, what should he do? And yet, if he asks for other tests again and discovers that the individual's health is really compromised, what should he say? Certainly, the doctor won't greet the patient by saying, "I'll meet you at the golf course on

Saturday. Everything is fine. How foolish would that doctor be, besides betraying his profession! There's only one thing to do. He needs to state his findings and say, Friend, you are not doing as well as you thought. Now you need to listen to me′′. Then the doctor will prescribe suggestions for the patient to improve his health. The main point is that, after performing some tests, the doctor honestly tells the patient that there is a problem.

To go astray is to lose individual fellowship with God. Read an old hymnal and you will see how the authors loved to have that very sweet relationship with the Lord. We do so

    11

much nowadays that everything distracts us and takes up all the time we would have to be united with the Father, resting before Him.

The deviation lies within, the rest are just external tools of the devil. When a man's heart is astray, he tends
