Dedication To Almighty God: Thank you for loving me in spite of myself. Thank you for choosing me, even when I felt unworthy.  To my children: an abusive marriage did not break us. Teenage pregnancies did not define us. Jesus will restore us. The Holy Spirit will lead us. The Blood of Jesus will cover us. Always believe in God, in yourselves, and in the love of family. To my blood family – my brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and cousins: You know I love you, and ain’t nothing you can do about it! To my church family: You loved me unconditionally, even with all my flaws. For that I will be forever grateful. Finally, to my parents, the late Rev. Dr. George Jones, Sr. and my mother the late Mother Maggie Jones…words cannot even express my love and gratitude for all you did for me and everyone close to me. You all showed me in your daily life how to love people, how to love myself, how to love my family, and how to serve God. Your wisdom, your strength, your tenacity, and your prayers still carry me today. You believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. You encouraged me when I was weak…and for that matter even when I thought I was strong. You encouraged me to reach higher in Christ. Thank you!

    Introduction

Have you ever just reflected on situations in your life and given yourself a mental time out? You may have said the wrong thing in a situation. Or maybe you acted hastily before thinking through the outcomes or consequences of your actions. It could have been that you gave away some piece of yourself that should have been reserved only for God. Possibly you gave away your piece of mind instead of holding your peace. Perhaps you demanded your own way instead of being flexible. All of these scenarios sound all too familiar.

No matter what the life issue was, we all have had to look at a thing or two or three in hindsight and wish we would have handled things differently. Thus, we put ourselves in a mental time out to think about what we said or what we did not say, or what we did or should not have done. Regretful reflections are sometimes necessary for spiritual and personal growth. Not that we should condemn ourselves; because we know that Romans 8:1 says There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

This does not mean that we can do anything or live
