About this ebook

In this book you will learn how to tell if God, an angel, or a demon is talking to you. You will learn the differences between God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit, as well as different kinds of angels. You will be able to discern if a demon is present, what type of demon it is, and how to get rid of that particular demon. This is powerful and for those who are hungry for more. Your prayer closet time shouldn’t be as confusing as it is. God wants you to understand what is going on in there, so you can be clear on your call and avoid wrong paths. Discerning of Spirits is an under-taught gift but it is clearly explained in this book.

    Introduction

It is often from our greatest moments of pain, come our greatest breakthroughs.

Sometimes in life we must come to the bottom of ourselves, or a situation, in order to really find freedom. Often times freedom is offered to us by a truth we didn’t know.

    As the bible says:

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

    John 8:32 (NIV)

It is amazing how dysfunctional one’s life can get just from a lack of truth, as God’s people often perish from a lack of knowledge:

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…

    Hosea 4:6 (NKJV)

I was one of those people who was perishing, specifically in the area of knowing God. Most of my childhood I prayed to God as if He was some far off being, who may or may not hear my prayers. Part of my distorted view was probably psychological, as my father was off in heaven somewhere, so I believed God was off in some far away place as well. Later in my life, during a church small group I attended often, I was told to… go home and ask God, ‘what He thought about us.’ I was mesmerized at this thought. Could I hear God?. I went home and tested this out. I sat on the floor and asked God to speak to me. I found out that evening that the Lord could and would speak to me. His very first words to me were… You are beautiful. I never really felt beautiful my whole life and had done a lot of dysfunctional things to try to make myself feel beautiful.  The Lord went right to the core of my issues and dealt with the root of my problems with just one sentence. He saw past the dysfunctional patterns and into my heart. I had heard God. This moment of hearing God was a moment I will never forget, and it changed my life. (I won’t go too much into this as this is all in my book, Intimate Jesus, if you want more details)

Though I had been saved for years, I never knew God. I knew of Him, yes, but know Him; I did not. This knowing is what changed my life.

It was from this revelation that I became obsessed with hearing the voice of God. I would spend hours locked away in a room, trying to hear, and actually hearing, God. I wrote 21 journals in a year and a half that were filled with what I thought God was saying, and what He actually was saying. My journals were as sloppy as my mind was, as I tried to find which voice truly was the Lord. Looking back later on at these journals, it is more clear to see, even by the handwriting, which sentences were from my heart, God or the enemy.

It is a very sloppy process when someone first starts pursuing hearing God. Especially when they are given no direction except You can hear God. I was part of a church with no real knowledge on hearing God. Some people there believed you could hear God, and some people didn’t believe that. So my teachers were few. Most of the teachers I could find were still figuring it out themselves. In a way, we are always finding God more, but there are still some things that need to be taught to the body of Christ about knowing God’s voice and discerning the spirits that I rarely see taught or articulated the way I am going to in this book. It is through pain and many mistakes in discerning the spirits that I present this to you. I am merely a broken vessel with a message from the Lord to deliver. I am thankful now for these mistakes. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be the accurate prophetess I am today.

Going forward, you must know that as you begin unlocking the keys to discerning the spirits, you will likely make mistakes. Sometimes you will hear God, sometimes you will hear you, and sometimes you will hear the devil and his comrades. This is all part of the process, and you must give yourself grace and be part of a culture or community that loves you as things get messy. For it is the love that you are given through the mistakes that will make you get in the prayer closet again, and figure out what is going on in there. Keep going, never stop in your pursuit to know Him, as the Lord...

…rewards those who earnestly seek him.

    Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

And honestly just knowing what He is saying is reward enough, but there is more reward than that I am sure. You must be earnest and diligent in your pursuit to knowing God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and His angels. You can never give up. Not just for the rewards you will receive, though I believe they will be worth it, but also because the Lord is your father, brother, lover, and friend, and it is worth getting to know Him in a fullness. For it is Him who made you and for Him you are made. You are here to bring about His unique purpose for your life, and just because He thought it would be nice to have someone like you in the world. Your confidence should come from here and your love should flow out of here. God is love, and you must first know love to really become love to this world. The more you know Him, the more you become like Him.

It is in His arms you become whole and

    find out who you are.

Some days will be messy and you will hear a demon and think it is the Lord. In those moments remember the grace of God, and that you are saved. Do not fall under condemnation again. For who the son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).

I am going to break this book into several sections:

    1. Back Story – I am going to explain how I came to some of the revelations in this book and who I am.

    2. I am going to explain how to know if it is God, the Holy Spirit, Jesus or an angel talking to you. I am going to even take it a step further and talk about the different kinds of angels you may hear.

    3. I am going to dive into the enemy’s camp and help you know when a devil is talking to you. I am also going to explain different types of demons you may hear, how they operate, and how to get rid of them.

    4. I am going to explain why discerning the spirits is so important in the context of the current church, so you can really be educated on why this gift is so important.

Recently I wrote a book on how to hear God, but it is not only God you can hear when you are in the process of trying
