Preface
My admirable reader,
Looking at the book cover, there’s meaning behind the design. I designed it to indicate the type of messages I will be sending you.
The black & white aesthetic represents simplicity or an easy read.
The picture represents the complexity of life we are yet to encounter.
The pen and paper represent the reader writing a new story after self-reflecting throughout the book.
The mess of papers in the corner represents how imperfect I am and my willingness to display vulnerability to the world.
So here you go – a book like no other; a book that teaches you what the public school system will not.
"Scared to face the world, complacent career student.
Some people graduate but be still stupid.
They tell you read this, eat this, don’t look around,
Just peep this, preach this, teach us, Jesus
Okay, look up now. They done stole yo streetness."
We all self-conscious, I’m just the first to admit it.
I’m here to crack the pavement and make new grounds.
Chapter 1 Intention
I’m here to say what our generation thinks, but would not dare to say out loud. We teenagers are heading into adulthood with a fear of being uneducated in all aspects including finances. Afraid of making a wrong decision due to the anxieties formulated on test days. Unaware of the simplest habit like building a credit score. Scared to ask for help because it’s called cheating
. Dreading the mornings of school days. Learning events about the past, which we can’t relate to in the present. Making decisions for the validation of our parents just so we won’t be seen as a failure
. The school system has it all wrong. We are programmed to do as we are told, instead of having independent thoughts.
My purpose is to impact lives with my words and knowledge. To convert non-creatives into creatives. To convert low self-esteem into high self-esteem. I intend to convert non-readers into readers. To create an audience, I can connect with on a personal level, against all odds. I'm here to set the tone for young teenagers like myself, to teach you what the public school system will not. I'm here to prove that age shouldn’t dictate what you can and can’t achieve. I will influence an indefinite number of upcoming adults who carry themselves with a sense of urgency and become people of great value in this world.
By the time you finish this book, you will understand that this is your cheat code to life! I will speak emphasis and life into you. Let it be known that love and togetherness are the solutions to problems. Reveal my insecurities, mistakes, and rejections. Showcase where I was then and where I have grown now. I’m nothing more than you are. We are all equal with different strengths, no matter who accomplishes what.
I’m here to help the blind see, the lost be found, the deaf hear, the broken-hearted be whole again. I’m here to give guidance to those who feel they have to fit in, those surrounded by fear, to generate future adults who are brave and willing to attempt to reach their goals, fail, then attack them again.
Future adults with intelligence and the desire to improve day in and day out; future adults with many skills developed in multiple aspects of their lives; future generations who recognize the opportunity of life and decide to take advantage of this gift given to them.
To reach the pinnacle of your pathway, it will take more than working 9-5 or being a student. How do you expect to peak continuously by doing the bare minimum of work for the bare minimum number of hours? It will ultimately lead to average results. Do overtime for yourself. Realize that there are far more opportunities and resources available today than ever before to reach the end zone, the finish line.
We are looked down upon. We are seen as emotionless, weak, and sensitive. Let that sink in. We have the ability to come together as a generation to rewrite rules and cultures, alter laws, modify legislation, and reform societal norms. We can live more fulfilling lives than those who came before us. We will educate each other and fill cups with inspiration.
I know we are much more intelligent, much more cohesive, tending to unite and aiming to reach our aspirations. Take the initiative. I am by your side.
Wake up or stay put. The book is my wake-up call to you. This is the time to arise. Decisions you make add up, compound, and multiply. Take a step back. Evaluate yourself. The quantity and caliber of your future existence will be determined by what you produce today. Your production years make or break you.
A lot of people will say, What can I do if I’m just one person?
That’s the solution. Everything starts with one person. You wake up. You wake the next person up. That person wakes up the rest slowly but surely.
I can give you every piece of knowledge, every wake-up call I can think of, every key to self-esteem, and provide you with awareness of future scenarios. What you can do is make use of it. Do what you will with the book. I’m confident you will do what’s in your best interest. I now introduce you to a preview of the way my mind functions.
Rise above mediocrity. Create a name for yourself. Do it with honor
Mediocrity should scare you. You were created with a purpose. You have a vision. The mental abilities we possess have no ceiling. Your evolution is never-ending and you will continuously ascend. Before, going to school, getting a degree, buying a house, and getting married felt like you had made it! Now that’s just not enough. Granted there are some things that as Gen Z’s, we do not feel are accomplishments.
Don’t you want to leave this earth one day having created a name for yourself? People will get in the way of the spirit within you. However, you are strong enough to overrule them. You will have the following thoughts. Can I do this? - actually, make it happen?
With constant belief in yourself, you most definitely can.
Humans thrive off one another. Everything is an exchange of services. Set the tone. Show people they don't have to follow what's trending. There is so much intensity to deliver in being atypical. You are a visionary. The world is waiting to see it through the extent of your vision. Make the world believe in the possibility of the unlikely. You plan the years around the corner using the expansive imagination with which you were born.
What kind of world do you wish to live in? Which lasting impressions will you leave behind with each interaction gone by? Take other beautiful minds
