In memory of Peter Nelson Jr.

To God. Without him, none of this would be possible.

To those that have walked with me through this experience that inspired me to fulfill my dreams in writing this book.

To my mother, father, brother, and sisters; to my daughter, Kali; and also to three beautiful people—Shay, Darrin, and Keysha.

To many kids and young adults that crossed my path that needed to be heard and understood.

Last of all, to the streets of Cleveland, Ohio, where I’ve learned to become self-aware and gain the much-needed experiences of failure. The experience I shared and learned from the Cleveland streets also enhanced my reason to write this book.

You become what you talk about.

In order for a dream to happen, there has to be an agreement.

A dream has to engulf you.

If you want to put anything into your dream, then your dream will want to put anything into you.

People see you the way you see yourself.

How you see yourself is how you see the world around you.

    Wake up to the dream.

    Marry the dream with execution.

    Research the dream.

Explore who you are by dating yourself; you can only be fruitful if you are seedful.

—Inspired by Bishop T. D. Jakes

    Acknowledgment

To God first and foremost, and to all those who have crossed my path that continue to inspire me by helping me fulfill many of my dreams. Also, to my daughter, Kali, for giving me the many reasons to create this book and the concepts within.

    Self-Awareness

Nobody can hinder you from doing what you want if that’s what you set your mind to do.

It’s about mind over matter. Be aware, examine what you know and how you know it, and know who you are and where you’re going.

The world’s most incredible computer is the brain.

In order to live life, you have to be able to THINK—thoughts have ideas and knowledge. Think.

The most powerful force in life is love.

    Love yourself at all times.

Love is patient. Love will inspire you to become a patient person. When you choose to be patient, you respond in a positive way to a negative situation.

We have so much potential we’ve never recognized it because we want to avoid the risk of failure. For many of us, life is life, walking through a very dark house with no lights for illumination. You may not know when you’re going to trip over the next object, but reason tells you it may very soon happen. The same is true with failure.

The most destructive habit is worry.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.

Sometimes we just have to reconsider and reevaluate; seek understanding; and find clarity for the vision and perspective on yourself,
