ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my best friend and wife Lorraine Hutchinson for her ongoing support. Thanks, honey, for joining me to exercise the right of the ambitious mind. We embrace the mindset that it is ridiculous what we can accomplish as a family and nothing is unattainable.
Jadin and Skye, daddy is crazy about you guys; you make my ambition even more undeniable.
To my grandparents who taught me old school -- that with good manners and a fearless ambition I can get anywhere in life.
To my loving parents, Trevor and Curlene Hutchinson, who always support my endeavors. To my sister Shaneka who constantly reminds me why Plan B is not an option, but an excuse.
To my best friend, Daniel Reilly, who puts a smile on my face when faced with some of my toughest moments. You rock, brother.
To my mentor, Mr. Daniel Hanberry, who holds me accountable, and is relentless about ensuring that I put God first in all my endeavors.

PREFACE
I am super excited about our adventure as we embark upon the journey of realizing the power we host as individuals. If you are like me, an ardent student, then you will find this book invaluable in excelling beyond your expectations. An ardent student seeks every opportunity to learn, to explore, to discover and to constantly grow in knowledge. There is a well-known saying that, knowledge is power,
and that is indeed a fact. However, knowledge without an ambitious mind to exercise the power of that knowledge is useless. And so you need to develop the ambitious mind in order to put knowledge to great use in your life. This book will help you identify, cultivate, activate, elevate and utilize the secret of an ambitious mind in order to achieve all that life has to offer.
What is it that you aspire to be, to have, to accomplish in life? Is it to empower others or to be spiritually committed? Is it to achieve financial freedom or happiness? Is it to become well connected, intellectually respected or influential? Is it to develop better relationships, become a better business man/woman or to spend more time with the ones you love? The list of possible ambitions goes on and on. Perhaps someone has told you that you can do anything you want to and that all you have to do is believe. But believing isn’t enough. You may have believed for what you wanted at some point in your past, but found that none of it came your way. You remained stuck in the same job, doing the same thing day in and day out. Perhaps you looked at a sports figure or a celebrity and wished to be like them, wished your dreams would come to fruition just like theirs. You may have envied them enjoying life to the fullest. They buy what they want, travel where they choose to, live in houses they want and drive the cars they like. And yes - none of what they do is based on the limit of, That is all I can afford.
The price tags on what they purchase is the least of their concerns when making a purchase. While you may look at others with such eyes, you may have failed to recognize that these people have been exercising the secret of an ambitious mind, some of them even without knowing it.
Even though the secret of an ambitious mind was always a part of me, it was suppressed because I chose to be a spectator with a wishful mentality. I wished things would be different, but I didn’t take the action needed to make things different.
It is said that one percent of the population earns ninety-six percent all the money being earned. If I tell you that you can become a part of this elite one percent, you may want to smack the heck out of me. Well, go ahead and slap because after reading this book, you will be convinced and well on your way to doing just that, or whatever it is that you really want – all based on the strength of your ambitious mind. This book is not just about creating financial riches, but wealth is part of life and the secret of the ambitious mind delivers it even if wealth isn’t your primary goal. Over the last few years, I have spent many, many hours listening, researching and studying some of the most successful individuals of our time. Whether young or old, they all have secret of the ambitious mind in common.
One of my very wealthy mentors showed me how simple it is to make money and live a better life. Whether you accept it or not, the simple truth is that money is the answer to many of our daily issues and the solution to many of our problems. Money allows our everyday life to be better, and I will stand to disagree with anyone who says money is not everything. We need to recognize the importance of money and acknowledge that money is the answer to everything we do in this life. Money is not the root of all evil and it never was. Money is simply a tool. It has always been the person behind the money that uses it for evil or for good.
My mentor once told me that the reason more people do not achieve financial wealth along with other goals is because they are too busy working for it. When he told me this, I walked away angry. I wanted to smack him back into the real world. In the real world, as I saw it, blood, sweat and tears are what it takes to earn somewhat of a decent living and survive in life. That’s how traditional thinkers view life and money.
Well… I am a renaissance spirit, so I walked away with a cringing face and a messed up attitude towards this man, but very curious about how he thinks the way he does. He has the money and the lifestyle to back up his mentality and his views. So I started studying wealthy people. The more I studied, the more I realized that what they do is bigger than life to them. Their goals are of the ultimate importance, their supreme priority, and they will conquer anything to ensure that what they envision comes to pass. Whatever they envisioned, imagined and wanted to create, whether on a small scale or an enormous level, was their number one priority. Even if they had to defy gravity for it to be, it was going to happen. Once they thought of it, it was done. In their mind, the decision was final. The only thing left was making it tangible so that you and I could also see it and experience it. (Can someone say, Steve Jobs
?) What they do to make it happen does not really matter. What really matters is how they do it. Wallace Walden back in 1903 made this statement: "You do not get rich by doing certain things, you get rich by doing things in a certain way." You and I both could do the same thing but one of us could excel based on the way we do it. It is the ambitious mind that changes the way you act. As you uncover the secret of the ambitious mind, you will begin to truly have, share and experience the best in life. It only requires one perfect and uniquely designed resource to be present: You!
When I finally realized the secret of the ambitious mind, it shocked my system…but it also changed my life. Here is the secret: The ambitious mind is the will to sacrifice much in order to gain much. It is giving yourself permission to just imagine. Keep this in mind: When you start believing in yourself, you will no longer wish for things. You will start being intentional about your destiny. And you will start having the desires of your heart.
This secret is for the people who are tired of being stuck. To embrace the ambitious mind is to know that sacrifice and patience are your best friends. It is to know that the unrest within you is your ambition to pursue your dreams. To tap into the ambitious mind, you might have to step outside of yourself and see what you see from the outside looking in. Then take that wonderfulness back inside yourself and run with it. The ambitious mind cannot focus on being a perfectionist for that can easily turn into procrastination and this kills ambition.
Who is this book NOT for? It is NOT for small minded individuals, mediocrity thinkers, realistic
individuals, non-believers, the fearful, those with a traditional mindset, individuals with the lack of urgency, people who are not coachable and those that do not see the need for growth. Why is this book not for those people? It is because the ambitious mind rejects those types of mindsets. Doubt and worry has no place one’s mental outlook. It’s possible to take on the physical vibration of fear. Fear is expressed as anxiety. It can turn to suppression, to depression, to disease, to disintegration and it is all because of ignorance. The lack of wisdom, as the Bible states, will cause one to perish. People to tend to fear what they do not know and they do not know because they are too afraid to risk the opportunity to uncover the new. Never take on fear. Bet on yourself first. When you bet on yourself, you discover all that is within you. You awaken the giant within and announce to the world that you have something to offer that will cause a lasting impact.
PART ONE
ACTIVATING YOUR AMBITIOUS MIND
"Mind is the master-power that molds and makes,
And man is mind, and ever more he takes
The tool of thought, and shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills.
He thinks in secret and it comes to pass;
Environment is but his looking-glass."
–James Allen
CHAPTER ONE
I Am
Activate your ambitious mind.
-SH
What is the ambitious mind?
The ambitious mind is your mind. It is what is inherent about you. You and every other human being possess the innate desire to learn, achieve and grow. One of the first things you learn when you’re a child is to win. You crave the exhilaration of achievement and number one becomes a significant number in your life. Early on, you learn to value the process of creating a goal in your mind and then following through on it. You want and have always wanted the most, the best and the unique out of life and living.
Consider your innermost desires and what you see as the ideal world for you and your talents. What are you doing? Are you being paid? Are you teaching others and sharing with them? Are you alone? Is your desire to work with others and achieve great things? What is your wish for your life?
Many of us wish for things. We make New Year’s resolutions. We write Christmas wish lists and send them to Santa.
