About this ebook

John and Heather had been married 25 years this year. For that anniversary, John had been saving since their first child was born. They booked a week long first class cruise out of New Orleans. John told her that she could buy anything she wanted as a souvenir. The would do whatever made her happy.

The cruise they booked had some interesting passengers. There seemed to be a lot of married couples who entertained single men at their tables in the slow dance bar that John and Heather liked to frequent. These men were nearly all younger than the couple. The wives all danced with the younger men.

Heather noticed one of them had an interesting anklet on. It was a silver chain with two gem stone embedded letters on it. H W. Heather thought that would be a good anklet for her, beings her name was Heather Walters. she pointed it out to John and told him she’d like to know where she got it.

Later, while in George Town, John happened to meet the woman and her husband. He inquired as to where she had gotten the anklet, saying he'd like to get one for Heather. The woman explained that it was a "Hot Wife" anklet and what that meant. He learned that one of the gift shops on board had a small supply of them.

Their anniversary was the next night and John surprised Heather with an anklet with the letter H W separated by a stylized fox. When asked why the fox, he told her it was because she was a foxy lady. That night, the Captain noticed the anklet and admired it. She told him that John had recently bought it forher.

After dinner the Captain invited her to dance and propositioned her with and invitation to join him in his cabin later. She, not knowing the significance of the anklet declined. After they went to their favorite bar,, where they were approached by a single man who bought them drinks and danced with Heather. The young man was quite amorous and John smiled and tolerated it. Heather became quite aroused but still shut the man down on the way back to the cabin and later regretted it.

She was then informed by the other woman what the anklet meant.

    Chapter 1

    First class

My husband wanted to do something special for our 25th anniversary. So we booked a week long Caribbean cruise. It was a first class all the way. He’d been saving for it since our 20th. After twenty-five years, both kids have graduated college moved out and the oldest was married and due to give us our first grandchild in about six months. To say I was excited about our trip wasn’t necessary. Everyone who knew about it could see it in my face and those who didn’t often asked what had me so up.

The big day came and we went to the airport for our transcontinental flight… I did say it was first class all the way. It wasn’t my first time flying but it was my first time flying first class. That was a revelation.

So, this is how the money people fly.

Yes dear and on this trip, we are the money people. I’ve been squirrelling money away for this for a long time. We have over a thousand dollars in discretionary funds this vacation. That means that if you see something in one of our ports of call that you really like, you can buy it. In fact you can pretty much have anything you want for the whole trip.

Why do you spoil me like that?

Because I love you and I want to see you happy; especially on this trip. Anything that makes you happy is a go.

I was unaware of it at the time, but I found out later that it wasn’t just five years he’d been saving, but more like twenty. I knew he’d been investing a little money since our first child was born. But what I didn’t know was that he had matched dollar for dollar the money he’d been putting away for the college fund for this vacation. He’s planned this as a surprise for me. At first it was only fifty dollars a month, but when the second child came along it jumped to one hundred. Over twenty years with compound interest being reinvested not only did we have enough to go crazy on this trip; we were well on our way for a comfortable retirement. Couple the mutual fund he’d set up at the same time he started saving for the kid’s college education with our two 401Ks I looked like we’d retire at sixty-two in style.

We arrived in New Orleans the day before we were to board. We had dinner at the Cornet on Bourbon Street. I’d never eaten Cajun or Creole food before. Let me tell you that’s and experience. Take care if you don’t like spicy. Fortunately, I do and John knew it.

Our suite, yes, I said suite, on the ship was huge. It had a separate bedroom, a living area and a bathroom with a Jacuzzi and a balcony and was located on the top deck. The view of the ocean was spectacular. Our anniversary was on day six. The day after we were in George Town Grand Cayman. Our third and final port of call on the cruise.

While in Cozumel we opted to forgo the temple trek and instead swam with the dolphins. They are lovely creatures and after spending
