About this ebook

On my fortieth birthday, the gang at work conspired to throw me an over the hill party. Each corner of my desk sported a black balloon with the number 40 on it. The entire desk was draped in black crape paper. There were a dozen or so cards laying on it; all taking digs at being old. It was a joke, I wasn’t laughing. Who the hell wants to be over the hill?
I’d put on a few pounds since college and as a mother of two, I had an excuse, didn’t I? I managed to lose all but about twenty or so pounds.
Over the years, I’d adopted an easy to care for shaggy page boy kind of do, it was easy to take care of. And my wardrobe kind of followed suit. I went into the ladies room to get away from all the jibes about being over the hill. I stood back looking in the mirror and took stock of myself. I looked over the hill.
My birthday had been on a Friday. By Monday I had joined a gym and subscribed to an online diet program. I didn’t make a big deal of it to my husband David. He’d have just told me that forty was just a number and that he loved just as much as he did the day we were married.
The first thing I did to get myself in the right mind set was to systematically replace my lingerie. I even made a change to demi cups when my boobs lost a cup size. It took a year, but the twenty pounds went.
Thinking that if people thought I was old they might also think I was outdated in my work approach. Not wanting some kid right out of college to pop in and show me up, I started to look for ways to make myself more valuable to the company. I was already closing as many deals as I could. I stumbled onto the solution when one of my existing clients came to me and asked if we could adapt an existing product to meet the needs of an upcoming trend in their business.
I sought out Marge Gordon, the head of R & D. When I broached the idea to her, she encouraged me to get details from my client and bring it back to her. My schedule was already pretty full, but I made some late in the day appointments with the client and a week later, I found myself staying late to work with Bob Marsden on the specs for the modification.
Just like that I became good friends with Marge and she encouraged me to find her more ideas. On top of my usual work load that made for some long days. Not everything I brought in was doable economically but about forty percent were and everyone was happy.
With my diet and exercise program compete, I totally revamped my wardrobe and hair style and I was rewarded with the guys at work and clients as well as passersby on the street taking notice of my new look. I felt twenty years younger and frankly it turned me on to garner the kind of attention I was getting. I was sure that David was tickled to death that my sex drive increase.
That is until David got it in his head that all the changes had been made because I was having an affair. What he zeroed in on what the outward changes the new hairstyle, the new clothes especially the sexy lingerie not to mention that I’d opted to get a Brazilian. All in all he determined, after talking to a bartender, the fountain of all knowledge, especially about why women do what they do, that all of that added up to a new man in my life.
I explained my motives and actions and my long hours and his solution to make him feel better about my desire to be appreciated by men, particularly younger men was to be a part of it. He took an active part in it and started giving me opportunities to be appreciated while he was there to witness said appreciation.
The result was after a year, he became fascinated with the idea of me and younger man. Enter Evan, the new CEO at work who mistook me for an estranged wife in need of companionship. Oh he was a gentleman about it when I corrected him and didn’t pursue it. That turned David on and he liked to tease me about Evan and began role playing in our sex life as Evan. That led to him setting me up for a liaison with Evan and permis

    Chapter 1

    Cause for concern

It was a Friday night and I was ready for an early night. I’d been pulling fifty to sixty hours a week for a few months now and today had been a twelve hour day. David, my husband, sat on the bed, watching me undress. I actually enjoy him watching me. Recently I’ve made an effort to be watchable. It does my ego good to draw that kind of attention. I glanced at him as I hung my dress back on the hanger after determining it was good for another wearing. He had a disconcerted look on his face that I couldn’t read.

What’s the matter Hun? You have an odd look about you, I asked him.

    I’m almost afraid to say.

Why would you be afraid to say? I turned to face him

He looked down and drew a breath. He held it for a moment before continuing.

    You’ve changed.

    Changed? How?

You’ve changed and things about you have changed. Things that are worrisome.

O…K… what things are you talking about?

For starters, look how you’re dressed.

I was wearing stockings and garter belt, over that a rather diaphanous pair of panties that left no doubt that I was sporting a Brazilian with a small landing strip, a matching bra that did nothing to hide the state of my nipples that were quite often erect these days and my three inch heels; the tallest that I could stand to wear all day.

I’m rather undressed, at the moment; or at least partially.

Yes, but the style of your lingerie has changed. Last year at this time, you’d have been wearing white cotton briefs, a full coverage bra, pantyhose and maybe kitten heels or flats. And that dress you just hung up is far shorter and sexier than anything you’d have worn last year.

He was right, in the last six months I had totally revamped my wardrobe, from the skin out. I looked at him, waiting for him to make his point. He watched me shifting his gaze between my right eye and my left and back again as if seeking an answer to some unspoken question there.

Then there’s all the hours you’ve been putting in. You seem to be getting home later and later. Worry flashed across his face and he looked down. I have to wonder, why.

You left out the fact that I was twenty pounds heavier last year as well, and that I changed my hairstyle and I’m taking more time with my makeup. He nodded, acknowledging those changes as well. So just what do you think you have to worry about?

He drew a deep breath again. I may not like the answer to that. He paused as if considering whether he should go on. Finally, he did. I mentioned it to the bartender last week while I was waiting for you to join me for dinner… if you remember; you were an hour late getting there. You cited work and something that came up that needed immediate resolution. When I described all the changes you’d made, he said … He paused again, a pained look on his face. He said it sounded like something a woman would do for a new man.

Oh … my… God… you think I’m having an affair!

He closed his eyes and took a sharp breath. He seemed to shudder and bit his lip. I looked it up online and all those things are clues that suggest it, he said, keeping his eyes closed. That and increased sex drive often accompanies that to ‘make up’ for the dalliance.

I quickly sat next to him taking his hand in mine. Oh dear, no, no, no I’m not having an affair. I should have talked to you I guess… only your my husband and couldn’t possibly give me an unbiased opinion. At least he opened his eyes and looked
