Masquerade Me

About this ebook
This is the seventh poetry collection from the poet, E.M. McConnell. Masquerade Me takes you on a journey through masks, roles and ideas. Who are we under the masks? What did we leave behind? Then we step back into myth and idea, with Magic Me, packed with poetry about Druidry, Paganism and the soul. Morph Me then looks at how we have been changed, how love impacts us, and how we as people create sparks, inspiration and longing, as we pass through our lives. Finally, Mellow Me, is poetry about the quiet moments in life, the moments that make us smile, sing, and sigh.

Eryn was born and raised in Oxford, UK but nowadays lives in South Germany with their young family. They have a great dream to travel and visit all the great mountains and lakes of the world. They are a qualified History and English teacher, working freelance with international students. They write both poetry books and fantasy stories. They have a particular passion for mythology and dragons! They have been writing poetry since they were 16, including Middle-Earth fan poetry that has appeared in the Tolkien Society’s publication, the Amon Hen. They have also appeared in the Music Anthology from the Sweety Cat Press. In addition to writing poetry they study with the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids to be a druid, and are working on two fantasy series. One of which appears to involve steampunk, sky pirates, astral travel and lots of dragons, and the other has a more dystopian bent. About The Poet
Introduction
This collection started out as a mish-mash of epic proportions. It felt as if it all belonged together but I couldn’t see rhyme or reason to it. And then I wrote the Masquerade poems, and I started to see the theme emerge. Masks are fundamental in this collection, of the masks that we wear, of the masks other people wear. It’s about what we do to survive, how we grow.
There are four sections to this book so I decided to get alliterative and use the M words just to be all fancy.
Masquerade Me is about the masks that we wear and how we fool each other, even when we want a connection and to be seen.
Magic Me is simply the magic in our lives. What makes us pause, and look at life in a different way? It changes us too, when the world shines on us that way.
Morph Me is about how we change and what affects us. It’s those small events that seem insignificant but their arrival brings slow change within us and later we look back and think, oh, yes. It was a big event after all.
Mellow Me is the nice parts of us, the events that round us off, fill us up with hope and peace.
There are a lot of
