    JEWELS of Shadows and Light is the poetry collection by the thelemite poetess Star Ruby. Inspired in esoteric and occult knowledge each one of the pieces written between 2015 and 2022 has its special allure and message for the soul.

    The name for the anthology describes the wide range of topics covered by the author including thelemite and occultist inspired content but also motivational, spiritual, womanhood, existentialism, among others.

    It is a book for people interested in different spiritual paths of initiation on account of the influence received by the author herself through the years she has been treading her own that have inspired many of her poems.


    JEWELS is a book that the reader can enjoy at any time of the year finding it inspiring and even cheerful. The audience addressed by the book is over 18 years old without limit of age.     The main poets that have inspired the author through her career are Aleister Crowley, William Blake but also the prose author Aldous Huxley.

    Star Ruby is the pen name for the author whose given name is Ruby Marenco and is also known as Bloody Babalon pen name chosen for the occultist blog created in 2016.

    The author is a poet from Bogota Colombia, she lives with her family in South America. The book is full of Jewels, hence the title, Jewels of Shadows and Light. The imagery is thought provoking, invoking a multitude of emotions throughout the work which is weighted with artwork from Ruby's husband Matthew Semernezski. The mediums of the photos include ink and pencil along with some digital works. Star Ruby is 45 years old and has studied the occult for 32 years of her life. Star Ruby A.K.A. Bloody Babalon, born as Ruby Marenco, is an artist, poet and a lawyer. Since 2015 she has been inspired by Thelema, occultism and enlightenment.
