#1 The lion, the tiger, and the eagle
There was once a king and a queen who had three sons and three daughters. When the king and queen got old, and the king became bedridden, he called his sons just before he shut his eyes and told them, I, too, will soon die. You should make sure that your sisters get married first, and then you should also get married,
the king told the oldest son. He looked at the youngest son and told him:
You, on the other hand, will find an exotic woman in the crystal room. First, though, look after your sisters!
The king gave his sons more advice over the next few days, and then he died. The queen died just after some time, leaving the children without a parent.
After some time, they got a knock on the door one morning from someone they didn't know.
Who's there? What are you looking for?
The royal kids questioned. I'm the lion. I've come to marry your older sister.
Where do you call home? Here or somewhere else?
In another state. I have to wait five days, but you have to wait five years.
How long? That is very far away. We're not going to hurt her! We won't be able to go see her if she gets sick or needs us.
The younger brother, though, didn't agree. He led his sister to the lion by taking her by the hand.
This is your luck, and we can't keep it from you.
After they kissed, they said their goodbyes, and the lion followed the older sister away.
Not long after that, a second person came to their door.
..
Who's there? What are you looking for?
the royal children asked.
It's me, the tiger. I've come to get married to your middle sister.
Where do you call home? Here or somewhere else?
Somewhere else. It's ten days away for me but ten years for you.
How long? That's a long way away. We're not going to hurt her! We won't be able to come to see her if she gets sick or needs us.
But the younger brother was still not on board. He led his sister to the chaplaincy by the hand, and that was the last time they saw their second sister.
A few days later, someone knocked on their door again...
"Who's there? What are you looking for? - Once more, the royal kids questioned.
I, the eagle, am here. I've come to marry your younger sister.
Where do you call home? Here or somewhere else?
Somewhere else. For me, it's in two weeks, but for you, it's in fifteen years."
How long is that? That's very far away. We don't fight with her! We won't be able to come to see her if she gets sick or needs us.
However, the younger sibling was adamantly opposed, and he decided to take his sister by the hand and escort her to the cottage. So, the three girls got married, and now it was the turn of the boys. The oldest brother got married first, then the middle brother. The youngest brother came last, and he did what his father asked. He descended to the crystal chamber and opened the door to get the elf, but she bolted as soon as she heard him, If you want to find me and marry me, make yourself an iron crutch and iron shoes and come to the marble mountains and crystalline plains.
The younger brother didn't give up or waste time. He sat down and made an iron crutch and iron shoes because the beautiful exotic daughter had asked him to. Then he set out on his journey to find her. After five years of walking, he got to his older sister's house, who had married the lion. He sat down on the terrace for a while to rest, and just then, the housemaid came out. She was going to the well to fill the jug with water. He asked her to drink some water, but she said no, so he warmed her up. The servant girl finally bent down and gave him a drink of water. He secretly put his ring in the whip and gave it to her before entering. When they poured the water into the glasses, the older sister saw the ring at the bottom of the whip and knew what it was. She asked the girl who worked for her, Who did you give water to?
No one, my lady.
You gave it to who? Tell me, and don't be afraid...
So, a stranger stopped to rest on our terrace and asked me for water. I didn't want to give water to him at first, but then I felt sorry for him and did.
He should come in...
The servant girl went outside and brought her younger brother inside. When they first saw each other, they ran up to each other and kissed. Then he started to tell her what had happened, but he couldn't finish because he heard something from outside.
Here comes my lion husband. Come on, let me hide you, or he might tear you to pieces....and with one blow, she turned him into a broom. Taking it, she put it by the door. At that moment, the lion walked through the door and said, Hmm, I smell royal blood.
That makes sense, darling. You walk the same streets that kings do every day, so what else could you smell?
...she calmly answered him and told him to sit down at the table to eat. She started talking to the lion by asking, Darling, if my big brother came to see me, what would you do to him?
I would devour him!
What if my brother in the middle came?
I'd cut him into little pieces!
What if my baby brother showed up?
I'd kiss him upside down!
After she was sure, the queen told the lion, I have to tell you that my little brother is here.
Then why do you try to hide him?
So she grabbed the broom and hit it again, which brought her brother back. The lion gave him a big hug and a kiss and then asked him why he had come. Once the young king finished his lengthy explanation, he turned to the lion and asked, Do you know where the irises are? The bilinas? The alamalakus? The marble mountains? The crusted plains?
The lion said he didn't know, so the following day, he called all the animals together and asked them. But none of them knew, so after greeting them, the king's son kept going to find the ilines and the bilines.
Five more years of walking brought him to the home of his middle sister. There, he sat down again on the house's terrace to rest. After a while, a girl who worked there came out with the whip to get him water from the well. The boy of the king asked her for water, and she gave it to him. After he had been drinking, he threw his ring into the whip. When his sister saw it later, she knew it was his ring and called him inside. While they were talking, he heard the tiger coming from outside. His sister, who was scared, hit him and turned him into a farrago. As the tiger went by the door, he said to the king's wife, Hmmm, I smell royal blood.
That makes sense, my husband. You walk the same streets as kings every day, so what else could you smell?
She continued, Dear, suppose my big brother came to see me, what would you do to him?
as she prepared a meal for them both. When they were in the midst of eating.
I would kill and eat him!
What if my brother in the middle came?
If I could, I would dismember him!
What if my baby brother showed up?
He would be my brother.
He showed up, but I hid him because I thought you might eat him.
Once the king's daughter knew how her husband felt about her brother, she ended the act and put him back to how he was before. The tiger and the king's daughter kissed and hugged, and then the eldest son told him what had happened.
Do you know where I can find the irises, the bilinas, the alamakus, the marble mountains, and the crustacean plains?
I don't know, but I'll find out by calling all the animals in the morning. It will be known!
But none of the animals knew them, so after he said goodbyes to them, the king's boy returned on his way. Five more years passed before he reached his third sister. He sat down on the terrace again to rest, and when the girl who worked for him came out, he asked her for some water to drink. She gave it to him, and he threw his ring to the whip. His sister saw it and told him to come in. As they were talking, the eagle came up behind him and kissed and hugged him. When he found out why he was there, he said he didn't know where the bilinus were but that he would ask all the birds the following day. So he did. The next morning, all of the birds came to the aetius, but none of them knew what to say. The only thing that wasn't there was a slow hawk that showed up late.
I know where they can be found.
Then make sure you take my friend there.
In fact, the hawk took the king's boy and flew with him for days until his iron shoes broke as they got close to the marble mountains and crustacean plains. There, the prince saw his lady being pretty with other people. He took her to the kingdom with him and got married to her there. They were always happy after that...
#2 Thiago’s Visit to the Clinic
In fact, Thiago the cat had a great start to the day. He stretched out and yawned while sitting on his favorite windowsill. Dawn's early light filled the spacious room, signaling the arrival of a warm and sunny spring day.
It's about time for a delicious breakfast!
Thiago said with great excitement. He stretched and went into the kitchen at his own pace. Thiago had a great idea while everyone was still sleeping. Having breakfast by yourself every day is boring! Today, I'll really surprise my family by setting the table for breakfast for all of us,
he thought. Thiago began when he was in a great mood.
He jumped quickly and landed on the counter, where he opened the cabinet doors and dug around for colorful cups, plates, and egg cups. He carried them to the table with great care. He thought for a moment, I think this is all they usually put on the table. Well, they might be surprised,
he said with pride.
He looked over his work again just to be sure, but he still wasn't happy with it. Oh yes! It still needs a few more flowers. Everything looks warmer when there are flowers.
This is what his people had always told him.
He ran quickly through the built-in hatch to the patio and picked three tulips. At the time, these were the only flowers in the garden. He went back inside in a quiet way. Be quiet, don't wake up anyone! He told himself,
It's supposed to be a surprise."
The vase Thiago needed for the flowers was already in the sink, which was very helpful. So put water in it and flowers in it,
he said with a happy purr.
Thiago managed to set the vase full of water in the center of the large table despite his ignorance of its potential weight.
Meow!
I'm very hungry. Now, all you have to do is put the flowers in the vase, and breakfast can start." He picked up the tulips and was about to put them in the jar when a big, buzzing bumblebee flew out of one of the flowers.
Thiago was taken aback! He had no idea that would happen. He didn't know much about things that buzzed before. He reached for it with his paw and forgot that he was standing in the middle of the beautifully set breakfast table.
It was right there! A plate and a cup fell off the table and shattered loudly on the tiled floor. The cat was still standing on his back legs and flailing his two front paws at the buzzing bee in an attempt to catch it. But this didn't make the bumblebee very happy, so it flew away toward the window.
Thiago jumped up from the table and ran after the bee. When he hit the broken dishes, he let out a loud, whining Meeeooooow!
that could be heard all over the house.
The cat hurt one of his paws, and a piece of broken glass was still stuck in it. Thiago cried out, Meow, it hurts so much!
What should I do next?
When a tiny drop of blood showed up, Thiago felt sick.
What's making all that noise this morning?
Thiago's people asked. And why is this place such a mess?
By this time, they were standing in the kitchen, bending over to pet the cat. Thiago's owner looked at the paw carefully, carefully pulled out the piece of glass, and put some stuff on it that burned a little.
He told the cat, It's not that bad, Thiago. We'll take care of that.
He told him, It'll get better soon.
Then he took the cat and put it in his basket.
So Thiago laid down there. Hurt, all alone, and very hungry.
I had this morning all planned out so well. We were going to have a nice breakfast together,
he grumbled. Then, what a disaster! Meow. They're not mad at me at all, though,
Thiago said, which made him feel a little better.
He kept looking at and licking his hurt paw, but it wasn't hurting as much anymore. Now he could hear the people talking, and his ears perked up.
I think it's very kind of you to set the table so nicely for breakfast! The woman told her husband,
It looks so pretty with the tulips.
The same ones are in bloom right now in our flower bed.
Oh! And I thought it was you,
said the husband, who was getting the sweeper and mop out of the closet and looking confused.
But what was Thiago doing again on the table? He knows very well that he isn't allowed to do that,
the woman said. And the pretty plates! I guess I'll have to talk to our Thiago about that in a serious way. But the doctor has to check his paw first. I'll immediately call the doctor's office and make an appointment.
At first, the conversation was funny to the cat because his humans, as they often did when he surprised them, did not get it. He almost forgot how bad he hurt and gave a slight grin. But his mood changed when he heard he had to go to the doctor.
No one knows what the doctor will do to me.
Thiago was very nervous about the appointment he had coming up. He won't give me a chance, will he?
In an instant, the cat's fur stood on end. It always did when he didn't like something. Let the bumblebee go to the doctor! It's all her fault!
he screamed in anger.
In the meantime, the broken glass in the kitchen had been cleaned up, and nothing was left to remind anyone of what had happened. Thiago was getting ready to settle down when his people came over with a strange box for him to climb into.
They called it a transport basket.
They didn't seem to think that someone could feel trapped in it.
He was about to say, I'm not going in there! Nothing hurts me either.
But before he knew it, everyone was in the car, and they were off.
Thiago was very uneasy, as always, when he didn't know what would happen next.
Things didn't get any better when they got to the vet's office and sat down in the waiting room. Some of his other sick friends also didn't want to go to the doctor, which gave him some comfort. They said this by making soft whimpers.
Thiago was very nervous, and when it was finally their turn, he would have liked to stay in the small box. But it didn't help. He was taken out gently and put on something like a couch. The doctor talked to his people and had a lovely voice. After a few crawls, the doctor started his checkup.
He was touched all over, and the paw was looked at closely with a thick magnifying glass. He was given the all-clear. You don't need an injection because the wound is small and needs cleaning. We just put a bandage over the wound to keep dirt from getting in. Everything will be forgotten in a few days,
the doctor said.
Thiago thought, This doesn't feel bad at all. In fact, this place is pretty nice. So all that fuss was again for nothing, meow.
Thiago's mood changed quickly.
After a few minutes, everyone returned to their cars and headed home.
Oh, Thiago, the woman said. You always do those things! Good thing we don't have to work today. I can't even think about what might have happened if you were home alone. Next time, please pay a little more attention! And a cat has no right to be on the table. You already know that,
she said and continued to scratch his ears.
You did great at the doctor's office today!
the man told Thiago. You really did behave very well. The cat thought,
Sure thing. I'm not a scaredy-cat!" he said to himself, purring with pride and happiness.
The man then asked his wife, Who actually set the table this morning?
Thiago smiled and was glad to be going home.
#3 Counting the Stripes
One sunny day, the lion Leo, the meerkat William, and the zebra Sally were cooling down under a tree on a hill. From here, they could see the African savannah very well.
Many animals were at the watering holes because the monsoon was almost over, and the bushes and trees were full of green leaves.
The three friends liked to watch them from where they were in the shade. They thought it was funny that the big elephants could get a lot of water into their long trunks.
William said, If this keeps up, the watering hole will be dry in a few days!
Both Leo and Sally only had one ear open. They were busy playing cards. Sally was about to put down her last card and happily tell everyone she had won when a wildebeest stopped and looked at them.
The wildebeest looked Sally over from head to toe and said, What a strange zebra you are.
William got up and
