    Chapter 1: You Have Control Over How Quickly (Or Slowly) You Age

    Nobody wants to get older, but unless they discover an elixir of youth, it's pretty much inescapable.

    But no one said you had to become older quickly just because you had to. And no one said you couldn't age gracefully while maintaining your youthful good looks, energy, and health!

    Many of us believe that getting older automatically means getting wrinkled, losing our ability to walk, and eventually having incontinence and dementia. However, none of these things are unavoidable, and most of them are only somewhat related to age!

    You may notice this by simply glancing around! While some people appear to struggle to stand straight and remember their name at the age of 65, others continue to play sports and write books well into their 80s and 90s.

    Is the distinction solely genetic? Absolutely not! Indeed, there are various lifestyle modifications that can make a significant difference in how you feel as you age, and many of the problems connected with old age can be avoided totally.

    Aging is still inevitable, so there. However, you have practically complete control over how you age!

    The issue is simply how we are training. And our general lack of activity.

    Many people maintain a high level of fitness and health while they are younger because they move around, play sports, and engage in general activities. They slow down and start sitting at the computer all day as they reach middle age. Yes, their metabolism slows, but the majority of the changes they notice in their body are the effect of being constantly stressed and stagnant. This causes muscle imbalances as a result of keeping the same posture for so long, as well as injury when they do get active. If you don't use your back enough, it will give out when you try to raise that suitcase!
