Stand Up Be Heard
As a coach, I had the privilege to coach a lady in the finance department of a company. The workplace culture was pleasant. However, she was being bullied by a colleague, making her feel uncomfortable and intimidated. This colleague refused to comply with the financial policy and would yell at and insult her whenever she tried to correct his filing errors. The bullying had been going on for a few months and was taking a toll on her mental and physical well-being affecting her work performance. Though he behaved crudely toward her, he did not behave this way toward other colleagues. She tried to avoid confrontation, hoping the situation would resolve itself. Yet, it only got worse.
She approached me for assistance to help her develop resilience and assertiveness. I suggested that she jot down what she wanted to convey
