The Secret Money Diary of Chloe Appleseed - Anita Saulite
MARCH 1
Dear amazing Wonder Woman my superhero, and Emma Stone my favorite actor in Hollywood!
You might be wondering what on this planet is a money diary. Well, first of all, it’s like a journal, and second, it’s a source of power for me, just like my hero, Wonder Woman and her magic lasso and bracelets. She has the ability to fight off villains or negative powers. And Emma Watson is not only a fabulous actor but she is also a UN Ambassador. Wow!
But I’ll tell you a little secret. I actually started a diary to write about my adventures and awesome times with my dog. But everything changed, and if you hang on I’ll tell you why!
My diary is kinda epic. The only one I let see what’s in it is my bffd (best friend forever dog) Sophia, of course. And now you. I sure hope you like it. I try to write in it every night. There are some days where not much happens. Then there are other days, boy oh boy, so much happens. My diary has to be secret because last month my brother Aiden found it and teased me about it. He said he was going to share my stories on social media. I freaked! I would never make it to Grade 6 because I would have died of embarrassment. Lucky for me, my mom came to the rescue and Aiden got in trouble.
Last week there was almost another freak-out with my diary. I was late for school. Reeeeeally late. I forgot to put it back into my secret hiding place up in the dusty dirty attic behind mom’s wedding dress and forgot it on my bed. Mom came in to tidy up my room and grabbed everything off my bed and tossed it into the laundry bin. Lucky for me, Mom sorts the laundry into two piles, whites and darks, and checks everything before she puts it in the washing machine. She saw my diary and hid it on my bookcase behind my American Doll with my frequent buyer popcorn card. Whew! What a relief. It could have been the worst day ever.
Oops, sorry, I got so excited telling you about my Secret Money Diary that I forgot to introduce myself.
Hi and pleased to meet you! My name is Chloe Appleseed. I have strawberry-blonde hair and freck-les. I’m 11 years old and in Grade 5. I go to St. Clem-ents Elementary School. These are some of my favorite things:
Subjects @ school – Math & Social Studies
Colour – Schmurple (that’s purple with a bit of pink)
Food – Pizza
Place to visit – London England
Pet – Dogs
Sports – Baseball & Soccer
Superhero – Wonder Woman
Actor – Emma Watson
And shoes, of course. ‘kitten heels,’ flats, wedges, sandals . . .
I live on a street with lots of trees and flowers in the suburbs where everyone seems to have a dog or cat. I live with my mom, dad and brother Aiden. My mom is a Financial Advisor. She helps people manage and invest their money to have a happy life.
My dad is an Electrician. He helps people build homes for families and makes sure that all the lights work right. My mom says he is always full of bright ideas.
Ha. Ha.
My brother Aiden is a teenager this year and sometimes super annoying. You know already that he likes to tease me.
And now, presenting my bffd, Sophia! She is a five-year-old beagle. She came from the local shelter when she was just one year old. I’m not sure how she got there. Maybe she got lost after running down the street after a squirrel and couldn’t find her way home.
It doesn’t matter because I’m the lucky one. She’s my dog! Sometimes I call her Princess Sophia because she was born with small markings on her head that almost look like a crown. You don’t have to bow or curtsy to her, but she does like to be called Princess Sophia. Fun fact: Did you know that Queen Elizabeth I and King James from old-timey England loved beagles? And The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markel loves them too! Aiden says that’s pretty sick. I guess that’s how kids talk in high school. Weird eh? Another fun fact is that French people loved beagles too. Some people say the name beagle came from a French word, beugler
which meant hello in the olden days.
You’ll hear Sophia everywhere. She has this crazy howl when she smells something exciting. It’s
