The Goddess Code - Heidi DeGraffenried

    INTRODUCTION

My sister! I’m so glad you’re here. There is a code I want to share with you. This code holds keys to unlock you from the drudgery and duty of life and activate the brilliance of your true essence and identity. As you awaken this code within and learn to apply it in your life, your inner world will light up in brilliance, and your outer world can’t help but be illuminated. Life will trans- form even in the simplest task and will never feel the same. This is the Goddess Code.

Most women shy away from saying they are a Goddess. They may feel unworthy or as if it is arrogant or trite to make such a claim. They picture a demanding diva who thinks she runs the world. Or an incredibly beautiful woman who uses her beauty to manipulate others for her advantage. I felt that way before I took this journey to understand more fully what a Goddess is. Let me share my definition of a Goddess to help you understand that you most definitely are or can be a Goddess.

    What is a Goddess?

Picture a woman who feels at home in her body. She is learning to know, love, and accept herself on every level. Her past pain and joy lend wisdom and richness that increase her empathy toward others. Her identity and worth come from inside, and she stands and looks people in the eyes with dignity and honor, regardless of what others may say or do to belittle or shame her.

She has fine-tuned her specific skills, gifts, and knowledge and comes open, willing, and confident to share and speak up where she can add value. She appreciates the contributions of the good men in her life and openly gives them respect and credit for their contributions.

She is not afraid to experience all life has for her. She is open to express her passion, love, and the depth to which she feels emotion. She has intuitive vision and connection to Spiritual Source and inspires others to collaborate in her beautiful creations. She is fully embodied and empowered in her feminine essence; it flows through her and from her.

When this woman walks into a room, people stop and take notice. She is seen, heard, and respected. Others are attracted to her in a way they can’t quite understand. And this woman has sacrificed nothing of her nature but has fully risen to the occasion in her true nature. She is the embodiment of the true Feminine. She is a Goddess.

She is a lover, a friend, a soft place to land, a truth teller, a guide, an inspiration, a child, a connection to Source, a mother bear, a leader, a healer, a light, and so much more. She is the woman inside you. Let’s find her together.

There is a shadow that has been cast on womankind. It has caused us to forget our gifts and our way. It is weighing us down with impossible expectations and keeping us from using the power within to lift and change our world to our full potential. It has lulled us to sleep and caused us to walk through life unconscious. Forgetting our purpose and passion and robbing us of sheer joy.

This shadow is a lie we believe. We lie to ourselves and others about our strength, our value, and our importance. We lie and tell people of our weakness, and they give us a hit of encouragement or compassion. Or we lie by discounting or denying our emotions and seeing them as weaknesses. We lie when we assume that being like a man and embracing the strengths men possess is the best way for a woman to succeed. We keep playing the game we think we’re supposed to play.

My own beautiful mother rose and fell in life, never able to cast off the shadow. She was talented and brilliant; she played the piano and also helped build her own home. She was a volunteer EMT and also visited lonely souls every week to rub their feet and give them love. She was detailed and excellent at anything she put her energy into. But she never fully believed this about herself. She never released the lie. She could never fully embrace and stand in the light of her own value as the Goddess she was.

This creates in my mind the image of a woman bound, sleeping, and lying in the dirt. She suddenly wakes and sees she has been bound and held as a slave and didn’t realize it until that moment. She rises and unties herself from the bands that have tethered her. She brushes away the dirt and dust that has settled on her heart, dreams, and crown, and gently shines them. She then sits down on her throne as she claims her rightful place as the Queen and Goddess of her life and story.

Notice there is no captor there to stop her from taking these steps. She has allowed herself to be tied. Tied to others’ opinions, to duties put upon her, to the will of others, to the fear of judgment. She is bound by social patterns and trying to fit in.

But the beautiful truth is, she can free herself. It is just a matter of becoming aware, choosing, and acting. Others do not have the power to bind us—this can only be done by our allowing it.

What if we just knew, in our core, who we were and didn’t need validation and approval from others? What would be different in our lives if we didn’t rely on others to give us our value? What if we honored and valued all the gifts we have and what we bring to the world?

We need to understand that the shadow of lies will disappear in the light of our own embracing of the truth. Light dissipates the darkness in a room just by flipping the switch. We hold the switch to bring the feminine light back to the world. All we need to do is turn it on. We have allowed it to be set at dim, but it is time for our full light to brighten up the world.

If you have felt the dimness of this shadow and are ready to know full light, I wrote this book for you. It is intended as a journey of awakening and transformation. By reading and owning these concepts, you are reclaiming the truth about your ability as a woman in the purest and brightest sense. You are turning your light on fully and letting it shine to all those around you. You are taking your rightful place as the Goddess of your own story. We, as women, are a tremendous gift. We hold love within our cells and bodies. We are creators in the truest form. When we know how to consciously use these abilities, we magnify our gifts, we reclaim our passion, and we feel an overflowing of joy within our own heart. We become a substantial contribution to our family, com- munity, and the world at large. We become a powerful influence and a restorer of pure love through our presence and focus.

This book is intended to help you to understand and not underestimate who you are on the inside, to find your core identity, and not base it on the outer roles and labels you’ve taken on yourself. It will help you realize and get clear on where you have given away your power, and how to reclaim and hold it with dignity. And to discover what you are here to do. Not just the mundane tasks that are consuming your time and energy, but to rediscover your heart’s desires and know what you are meant to create, in a signature way.

You have all you need inside, along with the power to do this. Let’s get started with turning on your feminine light and awakening your Goddess within.

    THE FEMININE EDGE

Have you ever heard the argument that men are better than women? I agree with it in one regard. Men are better than women at being men. Men were called upon to build the structure of our society, and they answered the call. The value structure was created from a male perspective. And it has served us well. But I have seen one big problem with the current structure that has affected many girls and women.

Our gender is seen as lesser and used as an insult.

    You’re such a GIRL.

Stop acting like such a GIRL. You throw like a GIRL.
