ART TO LIFE
I love the active involvement of creating
I love the process
The many various processes
That one can go through
In making a piece of art
Any piece of art
I like the inner workings
Of what brings a piece of art to life
Be it music
Be it a poem
Be it a dance
A song
Whatever
I just love the process
You have to love the process
Because as an artist
As a creative person
You spend most of your time
In the process
Of the making of the thing
The thing is what people see at the end
The end point of where the artist
The creator
Abandons the piece of art
Because they say
The work is never done
The artist just abandons it basically
Or calls it an end
When they could actually go on
And sculpt the ear a little bit more
Shape the chest a little bit more
Or whatever it is they're making
Or add another brush stroke
Or a little bit darker here
Or raise the saturation there
In a film
Or you could go on forever
Playing
Fiddling
And tweaking a piece of art
Making it great
And as perfect as possible
But it's never really finished
The artist just decides
It’s good enough.
CAKE
What an amazing feat
I have never seen a cake do that
Usually a cake is just supposed to be eaten
You know, prepared and presented
Desired and just devoured
Never would I have imagined this
For such a cake
A cake like this is not supposed to fly
I mean, this was no ordinary basic cake
She slowly picked it up from the table
A cake bigger than the size of her head
And wider than the width of her shoulders
She threw it like an olympic athlete
With such force
With such anger
Way across the room it went
Cakes like that aren’t made to fly
But this one did
Her husband
And the woman he was talking with
Now both wearing cake
Collected themselves and left together
Which under any other circumstance
Might have seemed odd
Other guests wiped cake from themselves
As best they could
The music had stopped
And it was safe to assume
The party was over
As we all gathered our things
And filtered out the door
She sat sobbing in the mess
I've never seen a cake like that
After today
It's fair to say
I'm not the only one
Who would be happy
To never see another cake like it again.
CLAY
Kissing your nipples
Breasts
Licking your lips
Listening to your breaths
As hot sweat
Drips
