About this ebook

The sixty-six books of the Holy Scripture were written by many penmen, over a space of fifteen centuries, yet it is one book and has one voice speaking through all its pages. The Bible is the word of God. It's very different from the sacred books of non-Christian religions. In those writings, it is man speaking about God; in the holy scriptures, it is God speaking to man. Reading this book, Truth, will provide you with further insights into the word of God.

    What Is Truth?

Truth relates to the Bible and the Creation of the world and how God preserves the Bible for our time.

From a child, I have learned that this world was created by the Almighty God. How He did it—by His spoken word. But how was He able to do this? Truth. Because He is omnipotent and omnipresent, and He is also omniscient. He knows everything, and we can truly say that He gave us His—, the Holy Bible. In this book, He tells us that He created the heavens and the earth. He said everything that is under the heavens belongs to Him, that He is God, and that there is no other god besides Him.

God is holy. The holiness of God means His absolute moral purity. He can neither sin nor tolerate sin. The root meaning of holy is separated. We see then that holiness is the attribute that guards the distinction between God and the creature. It denotes not merely an attribute of God but also the divine nature itself. Therefore, when God reveals Himself in a way that impresses man with His Godhead, He is said to sanctify Himself. And I will sanctify My great Name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes (Ezekiel 36:23). He reveals Himself as the Holy One. When the seraphim describe the divine radiance emanating from Him that sits on the throne, they cry, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts (Isaiah 6:3).

For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord and there is none else. I have spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye Me in vain: I the Lord spake righteousness, I declare things that are right. Tell ye, and bring them near: yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? Who hath told it from time? Have not, I the Lord? And there is no God else beside Me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside Me.

Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. God swore by Himself because there was no one greater than Him. I have sworn by Myself, the word is gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. (Isaiah 45:18–23)

No one else can claim to have created this world. I believe in the Bible because the Almighty God gave it to us so that we can know Him, and we know Him by faith through His word.

Let us consider the Holy Bible and how important it is for us. Without the Holy Bible, we could not know anything about the Almighty God. Man may write a true book, but only God, the source of life, can write a living book. The word of God lives and abides forever. Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever (1 Peter 1:23).

The Bible is the living word of God. We look at the volume; we hold it in our hands. It is like other books in form and printer's art. But the voice of God speaks from these pages, and the word spoken is alive. It is able to do in the heart that receives it what can be done only by divine power. The sixty-six books of Holy Scripture were written by many penmen over a space of fifteen centuries, yet it is one book, and one voice speaks through all its pages. It is the voice of the Almighty.

It is very different from the books of non-Christian religions. In these religious books, it is man speaking about God. In the Holy Scriptures, it is God speaking to man. The difference is as great as heaven is higher than earth.

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathered the waters of the sea together as an heap: He layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. (Psalm 33:6–9)

If by faith we lay hold on the fact that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear (Hebrews 11:3), it will be easy to trust the One whose power is so great. Let us then delight ourselves in the
