The Art of Limitless Mindset - From Limitation To Liberation - Danny Nandy

    What Is A Limitless Mindset

Unquestionably, many of us are stuck in a limited mindset. This mindset is hallmarked by the idea that you are born with certain gifts or skills, and anything beyond your innate skill set is not within the realm of possibility. In this mindset, our abilities limit us. Limited people believe that it should not be necessary to go above and beyond.

his is because if you are talented, there will be no need to give extra effort. Yet, ironically, what is limiting you is not your lack of ability, but your mind and your incorrect thought patterns. This mindset sets us up to not reach our potential.

A limitless mindset refers to the belief that you are truly capable of achieving ANYTHING that you put your mind to. As long as you have the correct attitude and you put in the effort, having a limitless mindset lets you believe that you can develop any new skill. Every goal that you set your sights on will be attainable.

This is because you know that persistent effort combined with a positive attitude and a systematic approach is the true formula for success!

Learning to approach life in this new way, where you are open to opportunity and excited by a challenge, is life-altering! Suddenly, barriers that previously held you back like the stagnant water behind a dam will be obliterated. Hurdles that earlier might have seemed insurmountable will become a pleasurable occasion, ripe with the possibility of personal expansion and achievement.

Where does this mindset even come from, you may ask? Stripped down, your mindset is the beliefs that you hold about yourself. When you think that you are a feeble reader, you will be a suboptimal reader. If you believe that math is just too difficult for you, then you will never excel at math. Our thoughts and self-talk make us who we are.

The words, I AM are the most powerful in the dictionary. What your self-talk says about you makes you become that idea. Saying I am not good at yoga turns you into a terrible yogi. I will never be able to get rid of my anxiety, is a compelling statement that keeps you in a state of anxiety.

Unfortunately, our self-talk is primarily influenced by those around us. Growing up, we learn the most by observing those who are in our daily lives, such as our parents, teachers, coaches, and friends. If your parents say that you are not a natural singer, you will internalize that notion.

Once you do that and tell yourself I am not a good singer, you will not develop an aptitude for singing. The limited mind tells you that it is not in your nature, so you will not even try. There will be no motivation to learn about singing.

You will hide your voice and refuse to sing in front of others because you are afraid, they will judge you unfavorably. In turn, you become a poor singer due to a lack of practice, diminished confidence, and no desire to perform.

Another example of external influence would be a teacher who, at an early stage, labels you as lazy. If you hear an adult distinguish you as a slacker, you believe the idea that you are lazy. After that, the next time a difficult task emerges, you will probably choose to avoid the task altogether. You assume that you will not be able to accomplish anything, therefore you are not motivated to try in the first place.

These influences can be particularly impactful when you are young and still developing your self-awareness. Children are always listening and inferring the true meaning of what they hear. Often, adults say detrimental things to children without even realizing that they have done so.

For example, praise directed at your child’s capabilities seems innocent and reassuring. You are so smart! This seems like a loving and encouraging sentiment. However, praise based on ability actually creates a standard for your kid.

They may now become worried that this compliment will be taken away as soon as they do something that may not be considered smart. Then, they are relabeled as a failure or fraud. This may create anxiety about upholding the sentiment of their alleged smartness. And often, this leads to apathy. Dr. Carol Dweck and her colleagues performed a considerable number of experiments on this topic.

Surprisingly, these children displayed no desire to even try projects that they thought would present an opportunity for them to be unsuccessful. If they were to fail, they would be seen for what they truly are: a failure.

So, if you cannot praise your child for their attributes, what can you do? Praise is still very important, but it needs to be directed at the effort behind the accomplishment.

Instead of, You are so smart! redirect to It must have taken you a lot of studying to achieve an A. I am really proud of you for hanging in there and working so hard! This puts emphasis on the importance of trying, rather than just being.

What Does It Mean To Be Limitless

So, what does it mean to have a limitless mindset? If you allow yourself to be limitless, every moment of learning is a positive opportunity to have novel experiences and grow your mind. If a difficulty arises while trying an unfamiliar yoga pose and you fall over or fail, you will see an opportunity to try again, put in more effort, and learn, so you become a better version of yourself.

When a math problem stumps you, you will become excited at the opportunity to grow and stretch yourself. Perhaps you take time to discover a different approach to the problem? This expands your repertoire and creates an opportunity to learn.

A limitless mindset believes anything and everything is possible, and the mind is open to all the possibilities life and the world has to
