Introduction
Hey Christian, do you hunger for power and glory? Do you want to be super dignified and stand out from the rest? Do you feel the need to be more blessed and favoured than other people? Do you want to be served by those lesser than you? Is telling people how to live, but not following your own advice something you enjoy?
If you've answered yes to any of these questions, it sounds like you might be after one of those fabulous Biblical crowns mentioned in 1 Peter 5:4. If so, I'm thrilled to let you know that you've come to the right place.
In this book, I'll provide you with the 10 vital steps to winning a shiny, coveted crown, so you can be the King or Queen that you deserve to be!
We all know that a crown is not an ordinary item. It’s a representation of regality, power and prestige. The Christian crown is no different, and the verse that talks about this coveted crown is 1 Peter 5:4:
1 Peter 5:4
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
The Chief Shepherd is none other than the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and we can clearly see that when he returns to Earth, he will be handing out crowns. The crowns however won’t go to just anyone – oh, no. Only those who succeed at Christianity will receive crowns. They will be given only to those who have fought well, finished the course and kept the faith (2 Timothy 43:7).
There’s a reason why I chose to use the word win in the title. I could have chosen achieve or deserve, but these words won’t correctly capture the idea. Win, on the other hand, is best, because being on the Christian path is like running a race to win a prize (1 Corinthians 9:24-26).
Countless persons think that Christianity is about love, compassion and humility. Really? How did those people come up with such concepts? You as a crown-chaser need to fling every hokey and wimpy idea out the window. Many hold firm to the idea that nothing corrodes success like caring about other people, and I’m sure you as a crown-chaser would also totally agree to this. Doesn’t 1 Corinthians 9:24-26 show that Christianity is really about competition and playing right to become a winner?
One great lesson I've learnt in my nearly 38 years on this planet is that if we have goals but we sit on our butts all day and do nothing, it's unlikely that we'd attain any of them. If we want good grades, we need to make the effort. If we want nice jobs, we have to complete the relevant studies and training. We really must work on achieving the things we want, and winning a crown is no different.
Winning a crown might seem like a great feat, but it is doable once you have the knowledge and enough determination. Some just need to learn the system. Others already have it written in their DNA but just need a little encouragement. Yes, sometimes a little encouragement is all you need!
Step 1
Maintain a Crown-Winning Mindset––––––––
When it comes to winning a crown or anything in life, having the right mindset is the most important key, and we must begin with it.
Mindsets form our actions, actions form our habits, and our habits form our lifestyles. Having the correct mindset is 90% of the work, and once you have the right thinking embedded in your system, everything will run smoothly.
Now, let’s reason for a bit.
