About this ebook

Lately, Rodney has been frustrated with his best friend, Shaun, who's been prioritizing time with his girlfriend, Lina, instead of wanting to watch baseball. Worse, Lina is manipulative. Rather than being a man among men, Shaun is now wearing preppy clothes and writing journals about his feelings. Rodney just wants his old friend back!

He gets that opportunity when, while roaming across campus one night, he encounters a strange circus tent with a young man inside who asks him for a wish. Rodney gets exactly what he wants—by swapping bodies with Lina!

Rodney's now a five-foot-tall girl who's supposed to be madly in love with his best friend, and Shaun is completely unaware of who is inhabiting his girlfriend's body. Meanwhile, Lina, in Rodney's body, isn't complacent with this switcheroo, and she's determined to make sure Rodney doesn't get away with stealing her life...

Rodney knocked on Shaun’s door for the second time, wondering if his best friend was in the middle of taking a big dump. Around him, students were either heading off to their afternoon classes or returning from them. Ever since his freshman year, Rodney had always scheduled all his classes in the morning. Made the schooldays feel shorter.

Dude, come on! he hollered, adding his third knock. Pirates spring training, remember? If we’re late for the bus, the next one isn’t for another thirty minutes.

    Nothing.

What the hell? Rodney thought, receiving only silence from his best friend’s dorm room.

He had a suspicion. An attractive suspicion that was about five feet tall and half Asian.

Lina—Shaun’s new girlfriend—had been the reason they’d missed the last spring training, and somehow she’d convinced Shaun that, instead of watching an MLB team practice for the new season, they should go read books in a park like a bunch of dorks.

Sighing, Rodney pulled out his phone and called who was supposed to be his inseparable friend.

Shaun picked up after a few rings. Yeah?

Dude. It’s two o’clock. That time ring a bell?

    What?

Spring training, man, Rodney said. We’ve been talking about it since last week. I know you. You wouldn’t forget something like this. He looked around before adding: I even wore my Pirates underwear.

Oh. I’m sorry. I had to change plans.

Rodney hoped it was important. Like an emergency dentist appointment. Or a kidney stone. He tapped his foot impatiently, knowing he was about to be upset. Did your new plans happen to involve Lina? he asked.

Yeah. We’re downtown. Uh— Shaun broke away and spoke more distantly: What was it called? Journaling? He came back loud and clear. Yeah, we’re journaling. Sorry, man. I was going to text you about it, but I lost track of time and, well, it turned into a girlfriend day. We’ll have another best friend day soon. Spring training isn’t over yet.

Why do I get the feeling that he’ll have another change of plans the next time too? Rodney thought. That damn Lina. She was like a tick—a really hot tick, with a great body. But she had become like a wedge between them. It wasn’t just baseball, either. Shaun preferred to study with his girlfriend now. Rodney couldn’t even remember the last time they’d crammed for a test. The medieval fair had been in town recently; Shaun had bailed on that too! And if there was a new movie that Rodney wanted to see, Shaun always had some Lina excuse to say he couldn’t go.

    Lina, Lina, Lina.

In Shaun’s position, Rodney would be tapping that aplenty. But he’d also remember who his best friend was.

    Where are you?

    Downtown, Shaun repeated. Near Domino’s.

Okay, I’ll be right there, Rodney said.

    Wait—

Nope. Rodney hung up. Today, he’d had enough of being the outcast, and he marched down to the student parking lot, got into his car, and drove downtown. Being a weekday, it was easy to slot
