The Alpha Male Mentality Manual - Chris Finley
Introduction
If you have picked this book up, then you are obviously looking for a way to become a more alpha version of yourself. The question is who am I and why should you allow me to coach you to become the ultimate alpha male?
Well, for starters, my name is Chris Finley, a US Army veteran who has been a leader of missions in Afghanistan. People often refer to me as ‘the tough guy’– at this stage of my life, most people think of me as the ultimate alpha male. Now, I must clarify that a true alpha male is never a bully or a jerk. He is a self-assured confident man with strong leadership qualities. The alpha male is on a mission to constantly be the very best version of himself by pursuing relentless self-improvement.
Over the years, I have been approached by a lot of young men who wanted to know how they can become like me. I realized that in today’s society there is more of a need than ever for men to receive the right kind of guidance from a mentor who has walked the path and is a living epitome of what he is talking about. In a world where any authentic expression of masculinity is bashed and criticized, men must proudly own their inherent nature as a man.
On the one hand, society criticizes expressions of masculinity but on the other hand, it is still always the alpha man who is sitting at the top of the social hierarchy. Almost all the most successful men in society possess alpha male qualities.
It is now my life’s mission to help other men become the best version of themselves. I am here to share with you everything that I wish someone had told me when I was looking for guidance to become a true man.
Before you start thinking that I and other alpha males have something special that you don’t have, I’ll say hold your horses. I wasn’t born like this and I didn’t become who I am without doing a lot of work on myself.
Prior to joining the military, I was a shy and fearful young man. I was terrified of approaching the opposite sex and the idea of speaking in public would give me the jitters. I had very few friends growing up. I was an introvert who got bullied often by the big
and seemingly powerful kids. I did not like the way they treated me but I couldn’t take a stand for myself even if my life depended upon it. Honestly, I was every bit as beta as a man can ever be!
Becoming the man I am today has been a journey. I am here to show you the way because I know what it feels like to want to change but not knowing how. I understand the frustration that comes with constantly failing at things because you don’t know how to find the determination and strength to persevere. I have been that person and I have likely faced all the hurdles you are currently facing. I am here to show you the way not by preaching to you how you must do things but by showing you exactly how I transformed myself. You can learn from my experiences and significantly shorten the learning curve for yourself.
For me, joining the military was one of the most defining experiences of my life. That first day when I stepped off the bus at the location where we were going to be training for the next several months, I knew I was never going to be the same person again. Until then I had led a fairly comfortable life ensconced by the care and affection of my mother.
For the first time in my life, I was completely on my own. No one cared whether I was tired, hungry, or ready to go home—I was expected to ‘man up.’ It was an environment where excuses were never heard or heeded. You just had to do what you are supposed to do because as part of the armed forces we were getting ready to face do or dire situations. The enemy doesn't give a damn about how you're feeling or how tired you are when you're on the battlefield. You will perish if you do not fulfill your duties. Worse, your incapacity to overcome your inner limitations leads to the deaths of your own men.
I soon realized that all the other young men were feeling just as lonely, exhausted, and uncomfortable as I was. The only difference was that they weren’t whining and complaining the way I had been. When I realized this, I decided to be inspired by them and learn from their example. If they can demonstrate remarkable willpower, tenacity, and perseverance in such a tough atmosphere, then I can, too!
From that day onward, I gave up complaining. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I started thinking of ways to energize and motivate myself. If you are wondering what kind of strategies I used to create such a 360-degree shift in my personality, then you are in the right place. I will be sharing many of the key strategies that I employed then and continue to employ to this day to pursue excellence in my life.
Working in the armed forces definitely helped me break out of my shell to become the alpha male that I had always been capable of being. Joining the military isn’t the chosen life path for everyone and it is certainly not a pre-requisite for becoming an alpha male. What you need to understand and inculcate in yourself are the habits of excellence and relentless self-improvement.
When you are in the army, you are expected to live up to a much higher standard than what most people adhere to in their daily lives. You live 24/7 in an extraordinary environment of excellence where everyone is constantly pushing themselves beyond their limits. It is certainly easier
