    The author Amanda Jayne Gilmer was born 28th of April 1968. She has two grown up sons Jacques and Cal and three grandchildren Hollie, Riley and Willow. She grew up in Hensall a semi-rural village and went to Hensall primary and then Snaith secondary school.

    The area she grew up in and faith developed in early childhood is a big influence on her works. In her early twenties she undertook her nurse training and was a psychiatric nurse for 15 years which influences many topics in this book. In her early thirties was diagnosed as being bipolar and rediagnosed as schizoaffective in 2012. This was life changing for her as it led to more suitable drug therapy. After two years of psychosis on and off from 2010 to 2012 with little insight. She had in the main been free from psychosis ever since. But still continued to have highs and lows, the lows were more problematic. Eventually in 2020 was prescribed a mood stabilizer which helped her lows. She is now more able to think positively about her future

    Her love of poetry was developed in early childhood after reading Philip Larkins poetry book the Whitsun weddings and later saw poet Attila the stockbroker live.

    It explores her spirituality and faith, as a commentator on social issues and a protagonist of love. The importance of family and faith are key elements in some of her poems. Many of her poems celebrate the human spirit, faith, forgiveness and the human family and are a fusion of nature, psychology, psychotherapy and philosophy. There is also a nature theme running throughout some of her poetry

    A recurrent theme in this book is the love of the area she resides in and other places she cherishes. Love is very much explored in many of her poems both her personal experience
