Book 1 – Minimalism: Tips for a happier and more conscious life without luxury and consumption
Foreword
Everyday there is something new to discover in life. We get up and do not know what awaits us in the next few hours. Sure: We have a vague idea. After breakfast we drive to work, do our daily work there and then go home. It is not uncommon for an appointment to be waiting!
We run from A to B, always trying to have a firm grip on the day's plan. The only important thing for us is that it runs
. But how often do we worry about what we do and how we do it? How often do we actually ask ourselves whether something in our life is simply too much
?
There is hardly enough time to discuss this. We realize that today is a stressful day and we are already looking forward to the evening, but of course it would not be possible to change anything at this moment. Strictly speaking, this would be more than important in order to recognize what life is really about.
Are you also thinking about your everyday life and your life as a whole and do you think that something needs to change? Then you are already on the right track! In this book you will learn that separating the important from the unimportant is not magic. After just a short time, you will be able to easily identify for yourself what you really need and what you don't. Separate yourself from circumstances that are not good for you and only complicate your everyday life. Finally push ballast aside and finally enjoy what makes up your everyday life and your ideas.
Take some time for yourself and look ahead. There is so much to explore!
Integrate tips and suggestions for change into your daily routine and find out what they can do with you and your entire lifestyle. Discover your being at home, but also in the office in a completely new way. Never feel overwhelmed again, tidy up wherever you think it is necessary.
The minimalism can give you a whole new feeling. It brings you back balance and inner peace when you need it most. Declare war on stress and only concentrate on what is really important and what makes you happy.
And now embark on a journey full of new insights and gain an impression of possibilities that have remained hidden from you to this day.
Today is the time to make a change and today you feel ready to do it. You will not regret it for a second, but will enjoy every moment of a new everyday life and will no longer want to be without it!
Have fun and enjoy discovering a whole new attitude towards life.
Chapter 1: On the trail of minimalism
On the trail of minimalism
What is it?
Definitely heard of minimalism. Otherwise you might not have found your way to this book!
But now you want it to be more than just a word and a rough idea in your head. You want to investigate the background and learn more about history and possibilities for your new life. That's right, you read that right: if you choose minimalism, you can expect a whole new way of life. In the beginning it takes a little getting used to, but this will soon give way to a positive surprise.
But what does the word minimalism actually mean?
Many people assume that behind it is a way of life that is based on renunciation and the simplicity of life. But it's not quite like that! Nobody has to live in an apartment with white walls! It is also not the goal not to be able to afford anything anymore. Everyone has wishes and they should be able to fulfill them in the course of their lives.
Rather, minimalism deals with the abundance of everyday life. Users should ask themselves what has added value and what doesn't.
- Do I really need this now?
- Can I also dispose of / give away / sell it?
- Wouldn't it be possible to create a little space after all?
These are all questions that a minimalist asks himself again and again. As you can see, this is about living at the minimum
.
It is simply trying to create order in people's lives. They should get rid of old things and, as far as possible, only buy things that can really be used for a long time.
Four very special areas of life are of great interest. So it is not the material things that are in the foreground, but health, relationships, growth and also passion.
Everything that we associate with these areas in life takes on a very special and more important meaning in minimalism. Only things that are good for us and bring back memories, that have to do with passion and joy, deserve to stay in the household. Sad thoughts and cloudy memories have no place here and should no longer block them in your own four walls.
In short: Everything that makes no lasting sense for us is sorted out and thus regarded as ballast!
But the word unnecessary
is also a broad term. What is so useless that you no longer need it? Can such a thing even exist? After all, on closer inspection there is a meaning hidden everywhere that makes it worthwhile to discuss it a little longer! But it is precisely this behavior that is put to the test with minimalism and is subject to a clear change here.
You should therefore ask yourself whether an object still has a productive value. It may also be the case that with some things there is still no support for passion and relationship (no matter what the sense). But it may also be that what you own does not stimulate further excitement or inspiration! The best days are just gone and it has no lasting value anymore.
If, on the other hand, you could answer all of these statements, or at least part of them, with a yes
, it is worth not saying goodbye just yet!
Minimalism creates something that many people have unfortunately lost in the course of everyday life: it draws attention back to the things in life that are really important and valuable!
And yet: The implementation is not easy! But what you really want, you can also create!
The Four Principles
There are four firm principles behind this lifestyle. With their implementation, you enter this unique and new area.
But be careful: Even if the first step seems easy, perseverance is required. Because even the smallest hurdle can send you back to the starting position!
Principle #1:
Everyone has something useless at home
At this idea, a large part of the population would first stretch their arms in the air and shake their heads defensively. This behavior is also understandable! If you take a quick
look, very few people will see which things they don’t need. It's only when they take the time to illuminate everyone that they really stand out.
To underline this, you could consciously walk through your rooms yourself! Take a look around: You will surely find things there that you have not used for a long time and therefore no longer need!
Principle #2:
The decision is yours
Everyone can decide for themselves what has added value and what doesn't. That's what minimalism is all about!
People who have not yet been able or unwilling to deal with this way of life often take the view that minimalists, e.g. B. should not have a car. But is that really the case? No, because this is clearly in the decision-making field of people themselves. If the minimalist believes that his car is valuable because he really uses it, then he can and should have it. But if it were only to be seen in the garage, it would have to be reconsidered whether there was any added value here.
The uselessness of an object is always in the eye of the beholder and depends on the use. A minimalist who travels a lot needs a car. If he doesn't, there's no use. The ideas and life of two people can be so different.
Principle #3:
Useless must be disposed of
.
Once the realization
