18 Ways to Deal With Anxiety - Tom Hope
What is anxiety?
Called by many the disease of the century
, anxiety affects virtually every human being, regardless of age, gender, or even social class. Anxiety is a feeling of worry we have about something that might happen. For example, the student is eager to see his grades. He is worried that his grades might be bad. Because of this worry, the student cannot relax. He goes out with friends to a party, but a voice in his head tells him, And if your grades are bad, what are you going to do? You will disappoint your parents. Why are you there having fun?
It’s common to be anxious. The problem is when anxiety disturbs your concentration and prevents you from enjoying the present, the here and now. You don’t enjoy the holidays, because you’re worried about something you didn’t do and that will have consequences. You don’t do your job right because you are thinking about how to ask the boss for a raise. You don’t listen to your wife because you’re worried about getting money to pay a bill.
Suddenly, our life is nothing more than an eternal worry about the future, about what is coming. And if you don’t know how to deal with anxiety, you will end up turning into an agitated and nervous person.
How much pain they have cost us, the evils which have never happened.
