The Call - Sylvia Curmon Wilder

    Day 1

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

    —Psalm 32:8

    Hearing from God

Hearing from God is one of the secrets to living a successful Christian life. Once we understand this, we will make sure that God is indeed guiding us. This will create total and complete dependence on Him.

Look at the life of King David. God anointed him as a teenager to become king of Israel. David, however, was not perfect; he experienced great loss through his disobedience of God’s Word. Even so, in Acts 13:22, God Himself gave this testimony of David saying, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will. In reading the scriptures concerning King David, you will find he heard from and talked with God constantly, regardless of his situation. He was dependent on God.

Here are four tips to aid us in hearing from God:

The voice of God will always line up with His Word.

Whatever God asked you to do will require faith and courage.

The will of God goes against the reason and rationale of the world.

When in doubt concerning God’s will for your life, let peace rule.

    Day 2

And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

    —Genesis 22:2

    Trust and Believe

Abraham was facing a horrendous test. God had just asked him to take his son Isaac, his miracle baby born of his old age, and sacrifice him unto God. The amazing thing is Abraham did not hesitate to follow God’s instructions. The Bible states Abraham rose early the next morning and headed towards Moriah without delay. The story goes on to say, once Abraham got to the place the Lord had showed him, he bound his son Isaac, stretched forth his hand, and took a knife to slay him. An angel of the Lord had to call out of heaven to stop him from slaying
