About this ebook

Abortion is a taboo subject. Abortion is not a matter of policy, but instead, at its core is a heart issue. For it reveals both where our hearts stand as well as who reignsaEUR"Christ or Self. For those of us who in the past have chosen Self, this book is for you. This book is for those women who are willing to look into their heart and allow Christ to cleanse and heal them, and rid them of the guilt, shame, and embarrassment of abortion.

    To Obadiah and Benjamin

You existed, and you are loved.

    Acknowledgments

To my husband for your continued love and support on this journey. I can never express in words how much your support and belief in me while writing this book has meant to me.

To my Pastors Doctors Johnie and Sandra Edwards. Thank you for your constant encouragement, your Biblical teaching, your love and your belief in me. You two are the best spiritual parents a girl could ask for.

    Introduction

The thing about being a Christian is that most people believe that once you become a Christian, you become perfect. Most people think that you have to earn your salvation even after you have been saved. In the book of Ephesians, Paul clearly warns us about trying to earn salvation: For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8–9).

I heard a professor of mine once say that when we attempt to earn our salvation, what we are saying is that Jesus going to the cross was not enough. My husband asked me if I was ready to share this story with the world. The truth is it’s something I have been so private about for so long. Yet, without any hesitation, I said yes. In this book, I share my story about how God looked upon me with forgiveness and healed me. My prayer is for those women who have had one abortion and for those who have lost count, that they will find healing in these pages, not from me and my words but through the word of God, and that they will be free from the bondage of guilt, shame and suffering.

God gave me this book in 2016, from the title all the way to the idea for the cover, and I was fearful—and no, it wasn’t a fear of telling my story, because God removed that, but, rather, it was a fear of failure, a fear of Who am I to write this book? I remember telling God, I am not qualified. Then I remember the saying I had heard in church from my pastor: God does not call the qualified, but He qualifies the called. God called me to write this book, and so I want to be obedient because if He called for it to be written, He must have someone who needs to read it. The purpose of this book is to bring healing not from me but from the true author the Holy Spirit. It’s meant to allow women, or even just one, to walk in the freedom Christ has promised, freedom from guilt of having to suffer the hurt and pangs of regret in silence. By the end of this book, my hope is that the Holy Spirit will have spoken to you in such a way that you will know that Jesus loves you, and you will know that His forgiveness is real and He wants you to be free and to walk in the freedom that He has provided.

    Getting To Know You

Throughout this book, we are going to get pretty personal. You may at times laugh, you may cry, you may even get angry. Throughout this book, I will refer to you (yes, you) as beloved. Why? Because I need you to know that you are loved! I love you although we have never met. I love you. You may think you’re past the point of loving or being loved; you may think that you are beyond redemption and unworthy. But what I want you to understand is that God gave me this book. The Holy Spirit poured it into me and gave me every word. It is He who wants you to know beyond any shadow of a doubt that He loves you and that He desires to abide in you and make a covenant with you as His spirit bears witness to your spirit that His love is for keeps, stronger than any pinky promise and more binding than any oath. He can’t and won’t renege on this love and His faithfulness.

He is willing and able to be the I Am (all that you have need of) without disappointing you and never allowing you to face anything alone again. He is ready to heal you, and as my six-year-old says, make your heart all clean. All He needs from you beloved is an invite. Invite Him into your heart into every nook and cranny every public smile and secret pain. For every fear, can be transformed into true peace and joy. He wants to heal you and make you new again. Beloved He is knocking please open the door and invite Him in. Allow Him to show you what real, true, unchanging love is. Give Him the opportunity and you will know love, deeper, wider, higher, and more sincere and satisfying than any earthly person could provide. Give Him your brokenness and burdens, your guilt, shame, and heartache for He cares for you. Beloved, all you have
