    Muses and Meditations - Barbara Lee Johnson

    1…2…3…

    The world’s Savior is the only one

    Who bore all the world’s vile unrighteousness,

    He made the way for pardon,

    Uniting the sinner and God; the significant two

    Back together again to express three

    Vital words: I Love you…

    A New Day Awakens

    Part starry curtain!

    For the consciousness of first light

    Has filtered within me immense hope.

    News of greatness is awakening

    And I yield myself in which my heart

    Attempts to lock in the magnitude of satisfaction.

    I presently sense the glory of God’s touch of wonder.

    My angle of vision

    Is upon the heated sun’s breath;

    Which bellows across the blue yonder

    With its red carpet treatment.

    In the upper expanse,

    Ivory billows compose a disorderly flight

    Of shapes within luminous sky-blue,

    And out of the bosom of

    The air, whiffs of honeysuckle.

    The Place

    The December wintry skies reveal longing.

    In silence I persistently weep;

    My legs greatly tremble,

    And subtle weight of heart.

    The profound woe I feel;

    As it singed my soul

    With bitter pain.

    the place;

    The extent was deep and evident

    As I stood empty and yes, hopeful;

    In His act of true sympathy

    Toward human creation.

    Unfathomable Reign

    What power!

    In the hands that hold in His own authority

    My breath of life and all that must be shall be.

    Existence as I know it, if God so chooses

    Can come to an instant close, but death

    As a follower is a profitable passage to glory.

    What power!

    In the soul-working, soul-bathing

    Blood of the beloved, sacrificial lamb

    For the spirited life within advances

    Through inner transformation thumping in

    Favorable circumstances cloaked in gratitude.

    What power!

    Within every doleful woe, agony, and terror

    Of demise that the Almighty allows to happen,

    To boldly believe and faithfully endure

    With the purpose of permitting my maker

    To let me trustingly press on
