    A Brief Explanation

    Prayer, to me, is a conversation – a heart expressing a longing to connect, and, if we listen, the answer we can hear within.  These poems, written as prayers, are about that conversation.  Divine Love’s response is always a reminder to remember our own divinity, and to trust in how much we are loved.

    This revised version of Prayers from the Sacred Heart has taken about seventeen years to come to fruition.  The individual prayers, sometimes inspired by people around me, would flow through on their own accord, in their own time, and for long stretches, not at all.

    Feeling more like a dutiful stenographer than a poet, I couldn’t quite recognize or explain this voice speaking through the writing, but gradually I have just given in and let the words shape themselves into their own form. Readers who have been
