Shifting Perception - A Manual For Transformation - Janet Erickson

    To Jerry

You challenge me to be better

    Every single day

    Introduction

    ––––––––

It’s both interesting and perplexing to know that we’re Spirit inhabiting a body and not question how it is that we can see anyone as the other instead of the other side of self. It feels as if we’re continually stuck in the ego’s perception and quite forgetful of who we truly are as Spirit or the Higher Self.

    ––––––––

I have been writing about this idea for some time, but it’s always felt somewhat nebulous. As a witch, I’m accustomed to the meditative or trance state as well as the benefit of visualization and inner work for transmuting my awareness from one state to another, so why not apply the same process to shift perception from ego-based self-awareness to  one that is Spirit-based?

    ––––––––

Although visualization at one time had been dismissed as New Age thinking, it is commonplace now and used to aid in any number of issues including healing, changing habits, gaining confidence, among many others. The reasons are endless because visualization works.

    ––––––––

Once we accept that we’re not the body that we inhabit or the personality we create then we must break the habit of existing as that egoic illusion. What else can we do? Our reality is Spirit and it’s from that perspective that we must create or view our experiences. I really don’t know any other way to do that except through shifting our perception as a reactor to our experiences to our truth as the creator of those experiences.

    ––––––––

In other words, we must know that fundamental truth and then begin to shift our perceptions to that truth.

    ––––––––

So, I began playing around with a guidebook of sorts, jotting down and refining some of the visualizations and affirmations that I have used over the years and the following pages are the result. As a witch, my advice is to assume a magickal mindset as you chant the affirmations. Chant them with as many repetitions as you need to bring yourself into alignment with their message. Witches do this when casting intention so light some candles, burn some incense in the cauldron, get a little witchy, and use the magick within to transmute and transform into who you really are!

    The Purpose

    ––––––––

It is easy to say to someone, let go of what no longer serves, isn’t it? But how many of us know how to do that? Or to let go of pain that never seems to end? We can want all of that but without a roadmap, how do we get there?

    ––––––––

The premise of this manual is simple. We are aspects of the Creator, incarnating to experience life in tangible form. Before incarnating, we make the choice to serve self or serve others and once that choice is made, at any given moment we create the world that we experience. While it may seem as if we are experiencing life as it exists, in truth, in every moment, we create at least the perception of what we see.
