Acknowledgment

In 1996 I broke away from what was or wasn’t traditional for an acknowledgment page in poetry, but moving forward again in this endeavor without one would make this book null and void.

My humble beginning was fostered with some love and caring, but the ultimate love and understanding were showered upon me by my husband, Martin, who held me in an embrace, looked into my eyes, and uttered, Joany, I have no doubt, if you had the opportunity, you would have gone very far. You were right honey! Thank you. I didn’t know it then!

To Diana Cort Van Arsdale, my former psychologist and dear friend, whom together with Martin were the two anchors, God placed upon this Earth for me. Diana, thank you! I never got to say goodbye, but your note said it all. Joan, no need worrying about Martin not knowing what you have become, he knew who you were and you both had a beautiful life together. Thank you, Martin and Diana, my love and both your love and strength abide with me always and forever.

Life Love and Persistence

We came into being and placed upon this Earth

Not of our own choosing but of our Creator

Who molds us into His own image and likeness

So that we can claim the God in me

The God in me generates His love within me

For me and to those I meet along the way

On life’s mysterious journey of Pitfalls

Disappointments and wonderment of life itself

But The God in me is one formidable force

And remember always, that life, love and persistence,

Walk, talk and work in unison with one another
