About this ebook

JoAnn Russo is a senior citizen. Her life today is very ordinary since her wonderful husband died of cancer in May of 1993. That was so long ago, and it had been such a different way of life without him.

Today she struggles with being lonely, and the old age has certainly changed her life!

Thankfully, she is enjoying good health still. She is limited in some ways. She does still drive and visits her friends quite often.

She does still enjoy life and has several hobbies, and writing is very important to her. She has been writing since she was a teenager.

She has been so blessed to be able to live alone, and she does enjoy working outside, keeping her lovely flowers, etc. flourishing.

She has had two wonderful mother-in-laws. They were all very close and loved one another very much, and she did spend lots of productive time learning so much about cooking and sewing (making so many clothes--pants, blouses, etc.--for herself) from these two wonderful ladies.

She is the only survivor of her immediate family, and it is hard for her to live this way at times! She misses them so much, but she has her wonderful, sweet son and enjoys his visits with her when he has time off from his job.

    Chapter 1

Ed, my dearest, you have been gone from my life for a very long time; even so, I have so many beautiful memories of the time that we shared together for twenty-two years of marriage. Friends twelve years before that!

The day we met was in May of 1959. I was married at this time to Brady. We were living at a house down below our own home. Brady was working part-time on his days off his regular job at Cape Canaveral for this owner, a rich man. A fireman inspector he was. I was not working at the cape at this time.

This place was beautiful. Where we were living, we had this pool to use, a long dock to fish from, a horse to ride, a tractor, and so much more. We loved that one year living there!

We were alone at this place; the owners used this as their summer place and came down from Boston every summer for only a few weeks.

They were nice people and were very good to me and my husband. His wife was in a wheelchair! During their absence, we had free run of this place, so I began to have many parties, some fish fries, and weekend get-togethers around their pool!

Our friends, as well as ourselves, enjoyed all of this so much.

After this one year, we moved back into our home and began to really work on it, painting, repairing, and we planted a large garden in the orange grove behind the house. We owned five acres there and had river frontage.

This was on South Tropical Trail, our home.
