    To perform a miracle yourself?

This book will show you all four

    Introduction

Wow! Thank you so much for picking up this book. You must be as interested in miracles as I am. I got interested in miracles when I first started teaching. In this book, we are going to look at miracles; what they are, what purpose do they have, and why do they exist at all. Are they real? Or are they just imaginations, something that can be explained in another way, but supernatural. As with everything else in life, you will be the judge. Be careful to examine the deviance with great care. Your life depends on it.

In thinking about miracles, I wanted to look at the purpose of and the purpose for miracles. Purpose is of the utmost importance. It is the essence of a thing. I learned from Ravi Zacharias some relevant information about evil in relationship to miracles. Ravi states that, Evil is a violation of purpose. He has some wonderful ideas on that concept, you should look him up. That so defines the other positions on miracles other than supernatural. What is the use for miracles? These and other questions will be the purpose of our journey. I’ll tell you of the miracles that have happened in my life, as well as how you can perform miracles in your life.

I started a serious search for the answers to many questions I had about miracles. Why is there a need in our vocabulary for the word miracle at all? What does the word miracle entail? What is it? Is it animal, mineral, environmental, man-made, or supernatural?

Can you touch a miracle or taste it? How do we interact with a miracle? Does it have color or form? Is it more or less like gravity? You know gravity is real, right? How do you know? One way for you to know is that you can feel gravity. Are you feeling gravity or are you feeling the effects of gravity? Are miracles real like gravity? We can’t see or touch gravity, nor can we see or touch a miracle; however, we can feel their effects. So does that make them real, because we can feel there effects?

I believe miracles are around for only one reason and for only one purpose. I cannot find any other rational reason for supernatural intervention in our lives. Miracles were created, and are created by Jesus (God) for the sole use and purpose by Jesus to prove to humans that there is a real Jesus, and he is who he said he was two thousand years ago and today; Jesus is, and Jesus is God. And he came to this place, the place he created to save his children from themselves (sin) and to return his children to a heavenly relationship with him forever. I could find no other rational explanation for miracles. Jesus used the one thing that can’t be explained, to have any other reason for being, other than to show what he intended for miracles to show in the first place. That what Jesus or God did then and still does today intervene in our individual lives to save us from death. We can’t overturn death.

Jesus did overturn death several times during his short stay with us here, and it was the most important time after his own death.

Miracles today have the same results and effects and are used for the same reason today as they were used when Jesus walked the planet. He used them to prove he was who he said he was and that he could and would save us from death. Were there miracles before Jesus walked the earth? If there were, what was their purpose?

Same one—to save someone from death. We know the reason for miracles when he walked among us. We also know the reason for miracles now that he is here in spirit with us today. Same reason, same purpose—to point us to him and his purpose. His purpose and he, himself, are the miracles.

How would you prove that you were God? What could you do or say that could prove that position? Of course you could say you were God? It would get you nailed to a cross and put to death. Not good? What if Jesus came back today same way as before? Everything is the same; same star and same baby—same everything. We could video tape everything—all he did and all he said. Everywhere he went; everyone he touched. We could then compare that information to a book he left behind two thousand years ago. If everything was an exact match—every word, every deed—would everyone believe his story? Unfortunately, not. That would be a miracle by definition. That’s the funny thing about that. Do you remember the line, every knee will bow? (Rom 14:11). I don’t think many more would believe today, percentage wise, than in the day when he walked the planet, because there has been very little change in man’s evil heart from then to now. That’s why he came in the first place. He came to show us the right way. When he comes again, which by the way he said he would, it will be a different story.

To believe is to take a risk—to apply your own thinking to what you have read or heard and make a choice. We all just want to know. But how do we know? Just as the folks who followed after our Lord as he made his way from town to town, they wanted to know if what he was saying was true, and even more, were what he was saying apply to them.

One thing our Lord knew was what people really thought and believed in their hearts. He already knew what they felt in their hearts. He already knew if they would believe or not. He used signs and wonders to help people think about
