About this ebook

This book will change your life. I know there are probably many authors that would use that phare to describe their book. However, in my case it is true. The information in this book will surprise and may even shock some people. But trust me it is all true and documented. I wrote this book because I wanted to share my love for God to as many people as possible. God has helped me through the writing of this book to make sure his message is given correctly.

    FOREWORD

I am thankful to Dr. Jeff Barnhart for asking me to write a foreword to his book. The subject of Does God Exist is close to my heart because as a teenager I had my share of doubts about God’s existence. Evolution ruled our education system, and I found it difficult to reconcile the concept of God with that of evolution. However, my life changed when someone presented me with just two small booklets: Does God Exist and Seven Proofs God Exists.

While the majority of older Christians never struggle with the subject of God’s existence, the situation is radically different for younger Christians. They are bombarded from all the sides with anti Christian and atheistic philosophies. It is essential to tell them belief in God in the midst of all these attacks is totally reasonable and rational. However, very few books have been published on this topic in recent times.

Dr. Barnhart has tried to write a book that gathers a large number of evidences that lead to belief in God. By doing this he has done a great service to the younger Christian community. I hope that this book will be distributed widely and worldwide.

One note of caution. God is neither matter nor energy. Thus, conventional proofs do not apply to this subject. On the contrary, one has to use the logical-historical reconstruction approach to study the existence of God and this is what the author has done. In logical-historical reconstruction method, not all proofs are equally rigorous. Also, not everyone has the logical or historical background to understand every proof. As a result, not everyone would like every argument. Nor will every argument appeal to everyone. This is a problem of perception, not of the subject.

Dr. Barnhart has gathered a very large number of arguments and as a result everyone will find arguments that are suited to their educational and historical background. Since I am a Christian apologist, I enjoyed each and every argument. I am also happy that he has gathered so many lines of reasoning to believe in God. I wish I had this book to read in my teens.

May God bless this book abundantly and use it for many generations to come.

    PREFACE

The concept of whether God exists is a question that has plagued people for centuries. Many have tried to answer that question with their own beliefs and opinions. Nevertheless, this book will prove, beyond a shadow of doubt that God exists and will in perpetuity. No amount of false documents or contrived opinions can change that. God created the world and us, and therefore, simply He exists. Assuredly, there are people saying, just because the Bible says something is true does not automatically make it so. However, the Bible does not just state that God exists it shows us by what Jesus did on earth, how He changed people’s minds about believing in Him, and how he changed the world by sacrificing himself on the cross.

Today is a time in history, which will be in our minds by anyone living today. Many people in this world are violent, there have been people killed by terrorist’s (execution style) and in certain cases a student going into a school and murdering students. The era we live in is very dangerous for everyone. Some might say, Well if there is a God, and he cares about His people, why doesn’t he stop all this. Well, there are very good answers to that question and this book will cover that topic, and strive to answer that question, plus others that have come up.

It used to be when I was growing up you could leave your house, unlocked, and nothing would happen. Which is not the case today. Satan is controlling the world. Yet, there is a reason for this. Everything that happens on this earth has been ordained ahead of time; there are no coincidences, ever. God has planned our lives to the smallest detail. Moreover, He is guiding us through the rough times and the tragedies we experience. Many non-believers will come up with all sorts of reasons why God does not exist. If God exits, why can’t we see Him? If God exists why are church membership’s dwindling in some states?’ The answer is simple, and you will discover the answer in this book.

The book you are about to read is designed to present information and facts in a way that when you finish reading the material you will understand that God does exist, or at the very least know your concept of Him being non-existent might just have some flaws. Every religion believes something different about God and if He exists. Certain religions believe in worshipping idols, those religions are not what Christians consider a religion and do not worship the true God. God is not an idol, or a sculpted image of what religion thinks is God. Throughout this book, there will be times when you may think, Wow, I didn’t know that. You are learning that not everything is, as it seems to be and there is misinformation, which needs to be clarification and correction, in order to disclose the truth.

    CHAPTER 1

Evidence of God’s existence in our lives

As stated in the preface, this book deals with the existence of God and ways that we know positively that He exists. Of course, many people will say things they think are right about God without delving into the existence of God thoroughly, or some just might not believe because they have no proof of His existence. This book will demonstrate to everyone who reads it, that God does indeed exist and that he is involved in all our lives, even though we may never see Him, as he appeared when he walked the earth as Jesus. To talk about God and his presence in our lives we need to address questions about our beliefs or lack thereof of His existence, there could be many more but for this book we will use with these fifteen.

    1. How can God exist if we cannot see Him?

    2. If he exists, why does God let people suffer?

    3. Why is it we cannot talk to Him directly?

    4. What proof do we have that He exists?

    5. What proof do we have that He is still working in our lives?

    6. If the Big Bang theory is true, doesn’t that mean God is not real?

    7. If God exists, why does He let terrorist’s run rampant in our world today?

    8. Did God really create the universe and galaxies?

    9. Does God create visions, or are they just fiction created by us?

    10. Is it true that God sends evil people to hell and moral people to heaven?

    11. Does God still create miracles?

    12. In referring to God, what does freedom of choice mean?

    13. Do we gain anything in believing in God?

    14. What will God do for us if we do good deeds?

    15. Does God truly love everyone, including wicked people?

    16. If there is a God, why aren’t my prayers answered right away?

    1. How can God exist if we cannot see Him?

A very good question and one I think many people ask or wonder about at one time or another in their lives. The answer is very simple, and you will be surprised at the answer. God exists in each one of us, and in the environment, we live in. Let me put this a different way, just to clarify any misunderstandings. God is in our bodies as the Holy Spirit and is all around us in the flowers, trees, bushes, weather, and things that happen to us every day. If God can create us, heaven, earth, the universe, and galaxies, is it so hard to fathom that he cannot reside in each one of us.

When Jesus walked the earth, he was God in human form, now he is God in spirit form. Jesus’ crucifixion allowed God to be many places at one time through the Holy Spirit. If Jesus did not die on the cross, the only way God could communicate with each one of us would be through Jesus, or others like Him through centuries, and I am sure you can see how improbable that would be.

Have you ever walked down a street and saw a flower growing up through the crack between two slabs of pavement? How did that happen? Surely, no one came by and planted a seed between the slabs of cement, and if they did, they would have to water it and take care of it so it would grow. In reality there was someone taking care of it – God. In addition, what about rainbows after a storm, did they just happen by coincidence? I think not. Rainbows are God’s covenant to Noah, (Genesis 9: 11) …I establish my covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth… (Genesis 9: 13) I set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. NASB

    2. If he exists, why does God let people suffer?

This question seems to have created controversy over the years. Can a caring God let people suffer? The unassuming answer is yes. However, when we talk about God letting people suffer, we are not talking about Him letting people suffer for suffering’s sake. When God allows people to suffer most of the time there are good reasons for it. Possibly, God is trying to teach people a lesson, or trying to show people they are on the wrong path, or the reason I prefer, is to help people grow and be strong because of what they have gone through. God does not want His people to be hurting but in some cases, it is necessary to achieve the desired result.

When you are hurting and think God has forgotten you, remember His son, Jesus. He suffered more than any human being has suffered. He paid the consequence of our sins through His demise. (Mark 15:31) In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying, He saved others: He cannot save himself." Everyone sins at one time or another and God knows this. His son paid for our sins, so we would not have to suffer the consequences of our own sin.

Nonetheless, we still sin despite Jesus’s death. The world has now become corrupt and is becoming more so each day. People are ignoring Jesus’s teaching. Some may feel they can take care of their life and do not need God in their lives. This is also, why God may be letting people suffer-we do not listen to the common sense that God has given all of us. God gave us free choice, (check out Joshua 24:15), which means we can choose what we do in our lives. Conversely, this does not mean we can do whatever we please, whenever we please. If someone does something unthinkable and people say, Why didn’t God help him, We must remember God will never break a promise He has made to his people. If He said, we have free choice, then that is what we have, and he will not change it.

With that said, God can influence other people which may be friends or family members to help this person get back on the right track. That is not telling them what to do; it is inferring to them what ought to be done. It is up to the person to accept God and His help. If a person does not take help and goes through with what they have planned, they will answer to God. It is similar the old story of a man trapped on the roof of his house while a flood rises toward the roof. He prays to God to save him. Minutes later, a raft comes by and asks the man if he needs help. He says, No its okay God will save me. A few minutes later, a small boat reaches him, and they ask the man the same question. Again, he replies, No God will save me. By now, the flood has nearly reached the roof. Later, a helicopter comes by and asks him the same question. Once again, he says, No God will save me.

About a half hour later, the water covers the man’s house, and he dies. When he meets God, he says crisply, Why didn’t you help me? I prayed and prayed, and nothing happened. God replied, Why didn’t I help you? I sent you a raft, a boat, and a helicopter, what more do you want?

Sometimes we cannot see what is right in front of us.

It is my opinion God created a blueprint (so-to-speak) for each one of us to follow and placed it in our mind. If you do not follow it, God will try to bring friends or loved ones to get you back on the right path. If you do not follow the path, there is no telling what will happen. We all must choose; God will not make the choice for us. Either you believe in God and have faith, or you do not.

    3. Why can’t we talk to Him directly?

The odd thing about that question is we can talk to him directly, some people just do not know it is happening, because they expect to see God face to face, not in a spiritual sense. We talk to God when we pray, he talks to us in dreams, and as a voice we may think is our subconscious, not realizing whom the voice belongs to and in some cases through visions. God is not someone we can see, like our neighbor walking down the street, however when the time comes, we will all see Him and know He is the Lord. That time has not yet come.

If God were in human form, he would not be able to help all His people throughout the world, it would be physically impossible. However, God can do the impossible. Still, when God comes back everyone in the world will know it is not a trick and He is the living God.

    4. What proof do we have that He exists?

Here are 30 evidences of God, used by permission from www.christianevidence.net. These evidences of God are shown to answer the question of whether God is real. They are not all the reasons that God is real, and I will show other reasons throughout this book. Some of these proofs may seem odd, even wildly unreal, but they show
