About the Author

Darrell D. Wichers was born and raised in Bellingham, Washington, up in the PNW, growing up in a Christian family. He was drafted during the Vietnam War, but decided to enlist instead to get specialized education in electronics and served three years. He and his wife, Susan now live in Vancouver, Washington, and enjoy the more laid-back living environment. His hobbies are collecting sports cards, walking, going to Disneyland, and the movies. God has always been a part of his life, and he did have questions for God later in his life. He got the answers and he put these answers in this book.

Introduction

I wrote this book for those who are searching or seeking to discover their true identity, explore the existence of God, contemplate heaven and hell, contemplate the concept of a spirit residing in a physical body, understand what happens after death, and much more. The purpose of your life on earth is only temporary, and in this book, I will share with you why God placed us all here on earth for this short period of time. The primary focus of this book is to encourage you to contemplate the importance of making the right choices in your life, which can lead you to heaven or hell, and shed light on other questions you may have always wondered about.

No one can escape the inevitability of death; it will happen to all of us, including yourself! Death can occur at any moment, and it is crucial to have an expectation of what it will be like and what you might experience. I hope to share some insights about these matters within the pages of this book. As I mentioned earlier, my goal is to stimulate your thinking process, particularly about the choices you make in this physical life. The consequences of these choices will determine whether you end up in heaven or hell at the end of your physical existence as mentioned in the Bible. There will be no one else to blame for your destination; it will solely depend on you and your actions. Therefore, I urge you to carefully consider the choices you make in this physical world.

Furthermore, I will discuss in greater detail your spirit side (who you really are), including how it interacts with your physical body, how God and Satan communicate with you, why time exists on earth but not in heaven, and how you can ascertain the reality of God. Prepare yourself for some surprises!

Have you ever pondered why we are here on earth in our temporary physical body when our spirit is meant to exist forever? I certainly have!

This question arose while I was listening to a Christian speaker who was discussing our limited time on earth in our physical form. He drew a long line across a chalkboard, symbolizing eternal time, and explained that our spirit (who we really are) was created to endure forever, whereas our physical body was not. Then, using an imaginary razor blade, he made a single stroke through the center of the chalk line, representing the short period of time we spend on earth in our physical form.

This made me wonder: why do we have to experience this short period of time on earth? It seemed illogical to me that if our spirit is eternal, but our physical body is not, why are they fused together and placed on earth for this brief period? Then after our physical body dies away, our spirit is released and we journey either to heaven or hell, as mentioned in the Bible. Wouldn't it have been simpler for God to create us all in heaven? This question had been lingering in my mind for years, and I have repeatedly asked God about it in my prayers.

Eventually, I received an answer to my question, although initially, I wasn't aware that I was receiving an answer, nor did I recognize its divine origin. This may sound odd to some of you, but as I explain what happened, my story will become clearer. Before I share this story, let me provide you with a better understanding of your true self and why I am writing this book about choices!

Chapter 1

Choices (Free Will) What Does That Mean?

This book is called Choices, a word that holds so much significance in our daily lives. Throughout our lives, we make countless choices. Some are simple, like deciding what to wear or whether to drive or catch a bus to work. However, in this book, I'll focus on choices that distinguish between right and wrong, and how they relate to you making the right choices in this physical world.

We all have the ability to make choices because God gave us free will. It's our inherent right to decide on what we want to do and what to believe. These decisions can either lead us to a good or bad outcome. I'm sure many of us can differentiate between the two. Bad choices usually lead to negative consequences, while good ones often result in a sense of inner peace and satisfaction. Remember, no matter what choices you make, God is always watching.

So, let's look deeper and understand the true meaning of ‘choices' and ‘free will.' To help with this, let's look at how the Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines these terms:

Definition of Choices (Merriam-Webster, Paraphrased):

The act of choosing or deciding between two or more possibilities.

The opportunity to choose between two or more possibilities: the opportunity or power to make a decision.

Freedom of humans to make choices that are not determined by prior causes or by divine intervention.

I believe that the ability to choose our paths in this physical life is the greatest gift bestowed upon us by God. He allows us the freedom to make decisions without direct interference, although he may help us indirectly. While
