About this ebook

The Perception of Trauma is a bird's-eye view of one suffering because of childhood abuse and trauma. Because of abuse and trauma, one needs to refresh their thinking to become healed, whole, and transformed. The book teaches the basics: (1) acknowledging abuse or trauma, (2) learning what privileges or damages it caused, (3) learning what you have done because of it, (4) understanding wrong thinking caused by it, (5) forgiving those that have abused you, and (6) ultimately forgiving yourself. One must become affirmed in the process and choose whom God has created them to be and then aid others through the healing process.

The greatest accomplishment is to get the wisdom to fulfill the purpose in life that God has created you for. Many people go through life doing as others (the world) have expected them to do and miss the purpose that God has called them to. The Bible speaks of many being called, but few are chosen. Could it be that because of life's distractions, the many who were called had become too distracted to choose the ordained life that God has purposed for them (the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord)?

This book teaches the renewing of the mind in primary steps, and through the process, one will learn to transform their lives, and this transition will cause one to see the revelation of God's purpose for their lives. The book teaches that whatever one has suffered from can be used to lead them to the end of wrong thinking and gain the righteous thinking of God through His Word. This book is just the beginning process after receiving salvation to begin to rid a person of one aspect (abuse and trauma) that may be hindering their God-ordained purpose.

    Prayer for the Reader

According to the Word of God, Mark 11:24, I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. Therefore, I use the power to speak life over the lives of those reading this book; that You, God, aid them in forgiving those that have abused and caused trauma to them and allow them to forgive themselves for abusive acts which they may have perpetrated on others.

Open their minds, hearts, spirits, and souls to receive the power of the Holy Ghost to change their lives. That You, God, may order their steps to successfully accomplish their purpose, in which you created them for before they had been conceived. That every place they go shall be prosperous and that their minds be cleared from past hurts, harm, ill will, and any other negative attacks that cause hinderances in their lives today. God, open their minds to receive a downpouring of your Word to change their lives in You forever.

And according to Philippians 4:6–8, let their minds be anxious for nothing, but that they continue to seek You, through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, making their requests known to You, God. And that You give them the peace necessary to transcend all earthly understanding, even in the times of trials, tribulations, and obstacles.

Guard their hearts and minds, that they remain teachable daily to know of Your righteousness, that they may be able to praise You in spirit and in truth. Protect their (spirit/mind/body), their spouses, children, churches, property, finances, jobs, careers, and everything You have given them to possess from the devourer. Allow them to see the danger afar off and let them know not to be afraid because there are more on their side than on the side of the enemy (2 Kings 6:16). Settle their stress, calm anxiety/agitation, and aid them to be still and know that You are God (Psalm 46:10).

Let them know that they are conquerors because You are the Alpha and Omega, and that You knew them before they were born. Teach them how to commit their ways to You, Lord, trust You; therefore, they will be able to delight themselves in You, and You shall give Your children the desires of their heart. Touch and bless those that read this book, as well as their families, and enlarge their territory to continue to spread the Word of God to all that will hear in all the nations. Amen!

    Chapter 1

    Perception of Abuse and Trauma

It is a dream, believing that everyone has had a great life, except you. However, the truth is that many individuals of the world have suffered greatly in one form or another when it relates to abuse and trauma. The stories are different yet similar; however, a great many people have chosen to believe, It wasn’t me. I’ve never been abused or traumatized. Yet I find that these experiences in life have caused a great deal of unrest in society. Sadly, most people struggle to understand what emotional and psychological abuse/trauma is. Merrick, Ford, Ports, & Guinn (2018) showed that more than 60 percent of adults have as children experienced at least one adverse childhood experience (ACE), and almost a quarter of adults have experienced 3 or more ACEs.¹ Globally, approximately up to 1 billion children, between the ages of two and seventeen, have experienced physical, sexual, or emotional violence or neglect in the past year (Hillis, Mercy, Amobi, & Kress, 2016).² People worldwide have suffered sexual, mental, emotional, physical abuse, which in most cases has led to the malingering trauma caused by such an episodic or repetitive event, which may account for a childhood of suffering. This suffering as a child continues to plague many adults because of the past abuse and/or trauma.

These abused and/or traumatized persons oftentimes choose or are forced to remain silent or limit exposure
