What Is a Seed and How Does It Develop?

A seed is described as the following:

A tiny developing plant that is enclosed in a protective coat along with a supply of food and that is able to develop under suitable conditions into a plant like the one that produced it.

A small structure (as a spore or a tiny fruit) other than a true seed by which a plant reproduces itself.

Seed Dormancy: What is it?

Dormant seeds are seeds which remain viable (alive) though metabolically inactive and incapable of germination under the conditions normally favorable for the species. In other words, seed is supplied all that it needs to germinate, yet it doesn’t. The seed is asleep, waiting for proper conditions to awaken it. There are many types of seed dormancy. It is a very complex and misunderstood condition of certain seed species. Not all species of seed that exhibit seed dormancy have the same dormancy mechanisms.

Our Inner Seeds of Greatness

Our inner seeds of greatness can be referred to as everything God has planted in us which is enclosed and preserved within our own individual bodies. These seeds of greatness include but are not limited to our dreams, goals, gifts, talents, and abilities. They are the supply of food given to us for the purpose of ushering us into our God-given destiny. Sometimes it takes a little digging to unleash the potential from within us. We’ll also face times when we will have to encourage ourselves along this journey. Whatever it takes, we must move forward to the place where our seeds of greatness become fully awakened. Regardless of the circumstances we encounter, the truth remains that we’re sufficiently equipped with seeds of greatness that we should be using and sharing with others.

Simply knowing what we possess is only one of the necessary components we must have in order to achieve our goals. The first thing we’ll need is godly wisdom. Gaining such wisdom is the most valuable asset we can gain, being that God’s wisdom is unequivocal and second to none. Walking in this wisdom will always give us a cutting edge to awakening and using our inner seeds of greatness.

The beginning of wisdom is: Get [skillful and godly] wisdom [it is preeminent]! And with all your acquiring, get understanding [actively seek spiritual discernment, mature comprehension, and logical interpretation]. (Proverbs 4:7 Amplified Bible [AMP])

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5 New International Version [NIV])

But the wisdom from above is first pure (undefined); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity). (James 3:17 Amplified Classic Edition [AMPC])

Once we have obtained the wisdom of God, rest in the grace of God, and put our faith into action, we can then be encouraged that our inner seeds of greatness will spring forth. Let’s refer to Dictionary.com for the meaning of spring and forth.

Spring: (1) to rise, leap, move, or act suddenly and swiftly, as by a sudden dart or thrust forward or outward, or being suddenly released from a coiled or constrained position: to spring into the air, a tiger about to spring; (2) to be released from a constrained position, as by resilient or elastic force or from the action of a spring: A trap springs. The door sprang open and in he walked.

Forth: (1) onward or outward in place or space, forward: to come forth, go forth; (2) onward in time, in order, or in a series: from that day forth.

When used accordingly, our inner seeds of greatness have the capability of springing forth, thereby providing enormous benefits for others and for ourselves. The mustard seed is a great example of how our individual inner seeds of greatness can become beneficial.

Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches. (Matthew 13:32 New International Version [NIV])

Likewise, our own inner seeds of greatness have purpose and are able to develop under suitable conditions. Some of the conditions are as follows: the right desires, the right mindsets, understanding our gifts, nurturing, cultivating, and acknowledging our gifts, being true to ourselves and others, sticking to our values, never giving up on our dreams and goals, taking all limits off ourselves, and most importantly, taking all limits off God.

As we continue to speak God’s Word over our lives and remind ourselves that we are equipped with seeds of purpose, on purpose, our faith will be awakened and unstoppable. Let’s embark on this great journey of awakening our inner seeds of greatness, by first digging for our spiritual gifts.

What Are Spiritual Gifts?

Spiritual gifts are planted in Christians by the Holy Spirit. God’s presence and His awesome power will always be revealed when spiritual gifts are at work. To increase our knowledge of spiritual gifts, we’ll refer to three different translations of the Bible.
