About this ebook

THE POWER OF TESTIMONIES is intended to stir up each reader to share his or her experience of the love, goodness, mercy, and grace of God. You do not have to be in a church setting to share your testimony. It may be during lunch break at work, at the hair salon, or in a grocery store. People need to hear about the goodness of the Lord. Ministry is wherever people are.

THE POWER OF TESTIMONIES was also written to encourage others who may be going through manifold temptations, test, and trials. It doesn't matter what your situation may be, whether it be physical, financial, a relationship, or a business affair. God has and will provide a way of escape in it and/or out of it. The testimonies shared in this book are proof.

The author's passion for teaching prompted her to share these testimonies in such a way that the reader will obtain an increased understanding on how to navigate through trials. Oftentimes, we spend more time in trials than necessary because of a lack or limited understanding. One reason we remain in trials longer than necessary is because of complaining. Complaining doesn't promote forward progress. Another reason for prolonged trials is that the heart and mouth are not congruent. The heart and mouth must be in agreement, working in accordance, in harmony together. THE POWER OF TESTIMONIES teaches how to rectify these two hindrances and others as well. We can go through trials and not be overtaken. We already have the victory.

    Foreword

As a church pastor for over twenty-five years and as a retired university educator, I am aware of both the value and blessing of carrying out the Lord’s commission to take the good news of Christ to the world. Some are blessed with the unique ability to proclaim it in written form. I am so impressed with the work of Alison Mayfield in this regard. Her powerful book, The Power of Testimonies, is a must read.

In this book, she does two things that are guaranteed to bless those who read it. First, The Power of Testimonies gives a clear understanding of God’s will for sending Jesus Christ into the world. John 10:10 declares that He came that we might have and enjoy an abundant life. We cannot enjoy that life with painful sickness and disease in our bodies, financial challenges that cause constant stress, turmoil that tear down valuable relationship, etc. Satan comes to cause these evils. However, Jesus came healing and delivering people from the oppression of Satan. Jesus is alive and does the same things today. We need to simply know this truth. Many are suffering from Satan’s oppression in their lives and are desperately looking for a way to overcome. This book provides answers. It looks at the truth of God’s word covering victory over Satan in every area of life.

Second, Alison provides evidence of God’s work by masterfully sharing personal testimonies of God’s actual healing, delivering, and restoring power. These testimonies are guaranteed to encourage your faith. Healing and wholeness are not just for Bible days; the abundant life is for today, and God desires that we possess it. This book is a dynamic teaching tool. It will stir readers who have been blessed with victory to share his or her experience of the goodness, mercy, and grace of God with others. She emphasizes that it doesn’t have to be in a church setting; it may be during lunch break at work, at the hair salon, at the grocery store, etc. The Power of Testimonies was written to encourage others who may be going through manifold temptations, tests, and trials. It doesn’t matter what the situation is; God has prepared and will provide a way of escape. The testimonies in this book are proof.

Invest some quality time in reading this book. It is guaranteed to encourage you and build your faith.

    Introduction

The Power of Testimonies was inspired by the numerous of miracles that God performed in His word, in my life, and in the lives of others.

The church I attended for twenty-four years has always allowed space in its services for people to share what God had done in their lives or in the lives of someone else, no matter how big or small. Oftentimes, someone may be sitting in the congregation with the very problem that someone went through and came out victoriously by doing things God’s way, committing to the Word of God and trusting Him. As we heard those testimonies, it encouraged and built our faith.

When going through trials, we must remember that the word of God has told us, Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. When we testify of what God has done, we are testifying of His revealed glory in what seem like a hopeless situation in the beginning. When we commit ourselves to God and to the word of His grace, it will build us up and give us the very thing needed, or eradicate what is blocking the supply from coming forth. Thereby, it glorifies God, lifting Him up so others may see Him, and increases our joy.

In most cases, I have found that when victory is not experienced in a trial, there is a hindrance, and no it’s not the devil. That blockage has several names: fear, doubt, unbelief, lack of knowledge, and wrong perception, to name a few. But no matter what one may name it, it can be summed up in this—wrong thinking.

In order to do any of the abovementioned things, one has to think first; we first think to speak and think to act. You may have heard someone say, after saying the wrong thing or acting unseemly, I didn’t think or I didn’t think about it." Yes, they did think about it; they just didn’t take the time to think it through or they acted out of faulty thinking. If we want to experience the glory of God in our bodies, families, finances, relationships, and in all of our affairs, we must abandon our own way of thinking.

The word of God declares in Romans 12:2, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect, will of God. What does the mind do? Think. So this scripture is saying be transformed or changed by renewing—renovating, replenishing, making good—our thoughts. Isaiah 55:8–9 declares, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. These verses tell us that God’s thoughts are high and our thoughts are low, but He didn’t say it for it to remain that way because there is a simple fix to this. We must abandon our own way of thinking and take upon ourselves God’s way of thinking that will ultimately change our speech, actions, ways or behavior. Only until we take upon ourselves God’s
