About this ebook

Jesus's ministry is an excellent ministry because of what his ministry represents. Firstly, in the substitutionary ministry of Jesus we see what we have in Christ, where we are in Christ, and what we can do in Christ in the present-day ministry of Jesus. Secondly, the present-day ministry of Jesus refers to what Jesus is doing for us right now at the right hand of God and what the Spirit of Jesus (the Holy Spirit) is doing in us and through us right now.

This book brings you to a proper understanding of the different aspects of Jesus's ministry. This will build great faith in us, make our faith very effective, and make us successful in life and ministry just as Jesus was.

The Excellent Ministry of Jesus - Dr. Christian E Samuel

    1

    Salvation through His Blood

To begin this chapter of exposition, let us look at Matthew 1:20–21 to get foreknowledge on the subject matter:

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

From the scripture above, the story begins with a virgin named Mary who was to be married to a carpenter called Joseph. In those days, it was a taboo and shameful thing to be pregnant out of wedlock, and Joseph was faced with this challenge. But to save both their faces from ridicule, he planned to send the woman quietly back to her parents. Thank God that Joseph was a man opened to God, and his connection with him was secure.

The angel of the Lord revealed to Joseph the mystery behind the virgin birth of the baby Jesus. This is one of the usefulness of possessing the Spirit of God and steadfastly connecting with him. This was the only way Joseph could have gotten the divine insight and instruction. But it is not enough to possess the Spirit and receive instructions; it is also important to obey and carry them out, and all this Joseph did. He was also an obedient person. He could have received the instruction but still go ahead with his own plans, but instead he obeyed, and by so doing, he averted the danger that was to befall the baby.

Let us delve into the story of the first parents, Adam and his wife, Eve, for a moment. This couple had everything going on just fine for them: Safety was not an issue. There was no suffering, nor pain, no lack. Everything was in an equilibrium state, and there was perfect harmony. Whatsoever they needed was at their disposal. All they had to do was follow just one instruction: do not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This was what was required of them to do if they were to maintain this state of perfection. However, as history would have it, the devil came in and tricked them into believing a lie, that God was preventing them from eating the fruits of the tree because he wanted them to remain naive. By eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve came into the rejection of Christ. He was the only knowledge they needed, the only truth they were to have for their paradisiacal survival. But the devil caused greed to grow in their hearts. He deceived them into thinking that God, which is Christ, was not enough for them, and so they sought for a seemingly greater knowledge that brought them into a place of
