    Preface

It is my desire to share with you some of the thoughts and conversations that I have had with God during my life’s journey. I will not try to convince you that my experience is unique; all I am hoping to do is to give you some additional things to think about and perhaps give a little consideration too. Hopefully, you will be inspired and enlightened in some small way to think that there is more to our life than any of us could ever imagine.

    So, let’s get started.

    Acknowledgment

First and foremost, all honor and praises belong to God, who is

    Holy Passionate

    Omnipresence Adorable Real

    Noble Naturally Amazing

    Omniscience Divine Infinite

    Reverence Sacred

    Eternal

    Soul

To the reader, I also extend the same honor and praises. This journey, like the gift of life, is something that has many wonders that sometimes defy classification in the conventional sense.

We are challenged in ways that could overwhelm us if we do not have an anchor to keep us steady and grounded. This is one of the reasons for this work that I have presented to you—hopefully, to help in those times of trials. Nothing presented here is used to take you away from your beliefs; it is my hope that you will find some small piece that will give you reasons to pause and look within and reflect on how good God has been to you. I know that some will not acknowledge or believe there is a God, and that is okay. As I have stated, this is the freedom of choice that God has given to mankind. We are free to believe or not in God.

So, with that said, the journey still lies before us; and we must each step forth in our own way and do what we believe is best for us. Please keep in mind that the gift of life is very precious, and we should do what we can to help one another in a positive/good constructive way. Peaceful blessings, always!

    Part 1

    Quest

Quest is a simple word, yet it includes all that is best in research and all that is most desirable in knowledge and a host of other things. Quest seems capable of expressing all that the spirit of research could mean and perhaps more; however, for me, it is a hopeful venture to believe/know that I think should be the purpose of everyone.

    Does God Really Exist?

This is a question that has been with mankind from the first moment of human awareness. We are always wondering if there is a power that created all of what exists that our sense of reality can experience. There is a quest to know the unknown and have some kind of certainty about what might be forthcoming in/on our daily journey. Some of the greatest minds have pondered this quest in order to know the answer to this question. Yet, from the dawn of our existence, there is no divine answer that we can point to and also stop the deep urge to know without doubt one way or the other—does God really exist? Personally, I believe the answer lies within the recesses of our thoughts for we must experience God’s presence in our own personal way.

In others words, we must continue to seek God until the answer to the question resides within our very essence. This in turn is the spiritual unity with God that must be our first step to commune with God.

So, for me, the answer to the question is yes, God does truly exist. God is all that is real—everything that we think and have an awareness of is only an illusion in regard to the reality of what truly is in the spiritual realm.

For those who do not believe or have no idea/concept of God, there is no need for concern for all will come to the point of view of God’s reality as the journey we call life unfolds. God is the reality that we all seek knowingly and unknowingly. So, no matter what stage we are on/at in our journey, God will be the final destination whether we believe or not. Therefore, the key is to enjoy the Gift of life until the real life that is all we seek in the holiness of holiness becomes our reality. Yes, there is no bottom/top/side/middle. Trust God!

Besides God, no substance can be granted or conceived. God is one—only one substance can be granted in the universe, and that substance is absolutely infinite. It follows that extension and thought are either attributes of God or accidents of the attributes of God.

Whatever is, is in God; and without God, nothing can be or be conceived. Nothing can be or be conceived without substance; therefore, it can only be in the divine nature and can only be conceived through it. Substance forms the sum total of existence; therefore, without God, nothing can be or be conceived.

All things are in God, and all things come to pass solely through the law of the infinite nature of God and follow from the necessity of his essence. Thus, it cannot be said that God is passive in respect to anything other than himself or that extended substance is unworthy of the divine nature, even if it be supposed divisible, so long as it is granted to be infinite and eternal.

From the necessity of the divine nature must follow an infinite number of things in infinite ways or all things that can fall within the sphere of infinite intellect.

The divine nature has infinite attributes, each of which expresses infinite essence according to its kind. It follows from this that from the necessity of its nature, an infinite number of things must follow.

Hence, it follows that God is the efficient cause of all that can fall within the sphere of an infinite intellect and that God is a cause in himself and not through an accident of his nature. It follows too that God is absolutely the first cause.

God acts solely by the law of his own nature and is not constrained by anything or anyone. There can be no cause besides the perfection of his nature that moves God to act, and God is the sole free cause. God is the cause of those things that are in him. Further, besides God, there can be no substance, nothing in itself, external to God. Therefore, God is the indwelling and not the outdwelling cause of all things.

God and all the attributes of God are eternal. The attributes of God are that which express the essence of the divine substance. The existence of God and his essence are one and the same. Hence, God’s existence like his essence is an eternal truth. It follows that God and all the attributes of God are unchangeable.

The essence of things produced by God does not involve existence; God is the cause not only of things coming into existence but also of their continuing in existence. God is the cause of the being of things. Whether things exist or not or whenever we contemplate their essence, we see that it involves neither existence nor duration; consequently, it cannot be the cause of either the one or the other.

God is the efficient cause of the existence of things and of their essence. Individual things are the modification of the attributes of God by which the attributes of God are expressed in a fixed and definite manner.

The ultimate reason of things must lie in a necessary substance in which the differences of the changes only exist eminently as their source. This
