About this ebook

What is Reiki?
The practice of Reiki is one of guiding energy through the body in order to enhance the body's ability to heal itself according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH). Reiki beliefs and practitioners of the practice believe that they do not initiate the healing process, and are not the source of the healing energy. They are only an intermediary for the energy, in the same way that a garden hose serves as a conduit for water in a recent review.

The term "Reiki" is an amalgamation of two Japanese words: "rei", which is a reference to "the wisdom of God", which is also "the higher power", as well as "ki", which means "life force energy", according to the International Reiki Training Center.

Reiki is taught according to the Japanese practice taught by the sensei (master) who imparts knowledge to the student through attunement, an initiation ceremony that is believed to open the student's energy channels to allow the flow of Reiki energy and can help improve well-being, according to past studies. Once opened, these channels remain open to the practitioner for a lifetime.

Reiki has three levels of instruction. First level practitioners can practice it on others or on themselves using gentle touch. Second-degree practitioners can practice distant healing, and third-degree or master practitioners can instruct and guide others in Reiki, according to the research paper.

How Reiki works
There are many theories.

One popular theory focuses on a phenomenon called a "biofield". Biofields are ubiquitous electromagnetic fields that surround all living things. In humans, the field is fifteen feet or more from the body, according to Ann L. Baldwin PhD an expert Reiki research scientist and professor of physiological sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

The heart, for example, produces an electrical signal that is measured by an electrocardiogram or ECG that regulates the heartbeat. The brain also generates electrical fields, but at a lower level than the heart. In reality, all cells in the body produce negative and positive electrical charges that generate magnetic fields, according to the above literature review.

Based on this hypothesis, the interaction of two magnetic fields in humans may be the reason for the positive effects of touch therapies such as Reiki. Biofields are believed to be the energy of the energetic body that controls bodily functions, just as Reiki energy can influence the biofield.

Quantum physics is the study of how the extremely small particles of matter - neutrons, electrons, protons, photons and electrons - behave. It also attempts to understand the interaction between physical matter and energy.

Quantum physicists have observed that these tiny particles of energy could be in more than one place at any given time (both particle and wave simultaneously depending on the method of examination, according to the University of Pittsburgh) and that thought or intention can alter the way the particles operate.

In essence, it is about the Reiki practitioner being able to attract and transmit biofield energy to the recipient through thoughts and intentions.

    Chapter 1: Reiki Healing

Reiki is a type of therapy that promotes healing and harmony in daily life.

Reiki is a healing method that increases relaxation and decreases stress and anxiety, both of which are common in our society.

The goal of Reiki is to enhance or increase positivity by applying energy through the hands of the practitioner.

The aim is to improve areas of weak or deficient energy levels, which are believed to be an area of health, in order to increase well-being.

The term Reiki derives from Japanese terms for Rei which refers to a higher force also known as power that is the power of all things spirituality, spirituality, power of the universe. Ki which is life force or energy.

Both words can be classified as an energy that is spiritually guided, that is what defines Reiki.

About the origin of Reiki and how the practice has developed

The history of Reiki goes back to the beginning of time, although the exact date or time period is unknown.

In the more recent past, from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, the technique of Reiki was revived and developed for use in the modern world, and is used today.

Dr. Usai, a Buddhist monk from Japan, was a student of the ancient practice of Reiki, gaining its benefits. He also developed Reiki to enhance its physical, mental and spiritual benefits.

In just over a century, Reiki has been performed worldwide, beginning in Japan to numerous countries around the world, including Western countries.

While many people may choose to use Western treatments and medicines to treat a wide variety of ailments and chronic illnesses, many people are also drawn to Reiki as well as other types of healing to improve their body, mind and soul through the practice.

What is the process by which Reiki grows?

Reiki is created through training sessions or classes, as well as a sequence of attunements.

There are three levels of Reiki study that provide the basis for understanding the healing energy and its use to treat you and others.

The effectiveness of Reiki grows over time as it helps to clear as well as heal mental health, allowing a greater current of good energy to move from one person or place to another.

With each level of Reiki students develop an understanding and a greater connection to the energy of the universe.

Each time one attunes, there is a further development of the connection and although only one attunement is capable of being lasting indefinitely, some students prefer to stay longer at each level to increase their knowledge and increase their energy by seeking further training and attunements or both.

Certain people who are unfamiliar with the practice and who have little or no experience with Reiki may decide to learn the first level for their own convenience or for self-practice.

For some practitioners, Reiki is more than that advanced, and advancing to mastery or third level requires a great deal of dedication and commitment.

    Different forms of Reiki

As Reiki evolved over time, and in more recent times, several variations of the practice have become known and are now known by their distinctive form or style.

Although all types of Reiki are basically the same in concept, the form and techniques by which they are practiced and the methods of treatment used are different depending on the specific form. The following types are popularly known as:

    Jikiden Reiki

This is the oldest and most traditional method of Reiki still
