In particular, if you are part of a coven, you may have a lot of experience with other forms of magic, which focus on harnessing the power of the community or on rituals that are cooperative and not on individual power, intention, or personal desires.

The most effective witches are skilled in both coven magic and independent summoning. In this chapter, we will cover some of the basics of solo spell casting, so that you will be confident in your abilities even if you are unfamiliar with magical work without the support of an organized group or coven.

What is a spell?

Many magical practices are not considered spells within Wiccan circles. There are also rituals that have magical power, such as potions, charms, divination methods, binding invocations, invocations, evocation spells, banishing spells, incantations, curses, hexes and many more. A spell, by definition, is any magical practice that involves the use of an exclamation (or set of magical phrases) can be used to express or define a spellcaster's wish. The purpose of incantations, like potions, rituals, and other magical acts, is to attract the attention of the right spirits before you make your announcement, to establish the true nature of your goals where words might fail, and to get your body and spirit to channel the right amount and type of energy. You may think of incantation as using your voice in much the same way you would use a wand, but the difference is that your voice is not removed from your life or broken into pieces, nor is it involuntarily left at home. However, just as with a wand, the voice you use to say incantations can be made stronger or less effective by the way you handle it, as well as the way you manipulate it.

Thus, rhymes can be described as the languages of spirits, elementals, as well as fairies and other immortal beings, which use a high-pitched sound that animals are able to hear, while humans are completely blind to it. With rhymes, we inform the spirits of the reality that this message is meant for their ears, thus eliminating it from casual and social conversations.
