In Memory of my Grandmother, who shared our lives, gave us love and guidance, who gave her children and her children’s children such a wonderful childhood.
Mother
Mother has been good to us
We all love her but show no fuss
She guided us on life’s road
And sometimes it was a heavy load
But she came out with flying colours
Though often shouted at us with hollers
Threatened often to tell our dad
What little horrors we were, by gad
They are the days I often think
And there will always be a link
Of the past into future life with
So much worry and so much strife
But no one can replace, there will be no other
To the wonderful lady, we call Mother.
Jim
Jim a grower he wanted to be
Then a milkman seemed his cup of tea
But then he changed his mind again
And a baker’s rounds man he became
He did a little fishing on the side
Then growing freesias seem to be his guide
But to top it all he works in a shop
And his boss won’t let him stop
At 9 o’clock he has to be there
To set things out and prepare
To serve the people passing by
Very often yawns, and has a sigh
As his boss is only pleased
When he sells out and all the trade is seized.
Edna
Now Edna had to ride in a car boot
But you know she didn’t care two hoots
It was a bit of a tight squeeze
She rested her double chin on her knees
It cramped her style a bit
But at least nothing ripped
And Edna scrambled out all in one piece
Her long evening dress not even a crease
Ooh, that gal is a devil you know
And always willing to have a go!
Aunt Emily
Aunt Emily is an elderly lady you’ll find
And to everyone has been very kind
She spent her life looking after others
With her effortless spirit she always bothers
But now is worn out and tired
Has to take life easy but still admired
Loves to see visitors and have a chat
